Ok just wanted to let you guys know if you were planning on doing the G8 kit on the 2009.5 GT or GXP there are a few changes to be aware of:

1. On a GXP there is a breather in the valley cover, the L76 doesnt have this because of DOD. This really isnt an issue but the breather tube needs to be bent down slightly to clear the Maggie intake manifold.

2. The Biggie- All 2009.5 V8's have a lovely new design WATER PUMP AND RADIATOR HOSES. I originally figured this was GXP only but ANY G8 built 09.5 with RPO BSI will have these changes. Now there are two ways to deal with this:
-1 Magnuson already has this issue worked out with new belt routing (see GXP pic)
-2 New 08-09 Water Pump and Upper/Lower Radiator Hoses (About $400 Retail or so)

I chose the second option after seeing the amount of belt wrap afforded with the 08-09 Belt routing style, not that I think this is necessarily a big issue but as I drop pulley size it may be so might as well do it while I'm in there.

So yeah otherwise its just a time consuming install, so far I think hose routing has been the worst of it LOL

Note.....We are moving the idler on the GXP system UP to help with belt wrap. Thanks for the insight Chris.

Interesting...GM just can't seem to leave these cars alone! Don't worry...you're going to enjoy the boost. I like mine, and just need a bit more!

What was the reason for them to change the water pump and so forth. I am a little slow but what is RPO BSI....

Exactly

No reason, and they wonder why they are going bankrupt!

LOL Well there was a reason and its semi-ironic given what we are talking about here LOL I was kind of miffed so I called powertrain yesterday, the water pump design was changed to accomodate the LSA/LS9 LOL So rather than tooling up another casting they just chose to use that design on all car V8 programs LOL I havent verified they are EXACTLY the same but a same casting may be used then machined but this is what I was told. The guys thought it was pretty funny that it was giving me a hard time on a supercharged 6.2L LOL

That is wrong how they change design so often, there is no chance for advancement in making one better. Every time you think you got new it is old already. One day they will go back to the older ways and keep what is working stay for while.

Well the guy I called knew what we were up to but oddly enough I had a Powertrain quality guy show up to look at something else and looked at my car and was pretty much giving us the WTF? LOL
