Trunk Lid Liner

Can any of you GT or GXP guys tell me if your car came with a trunk lid liner? I have the V6 and all I have is bare metal. I checked gmpartsdirect and they don't show anything. Thanks

Mine came with the basic interior. I went ahead and bought the fancy protective liner. I prolly wouldn't have needed that if I didn't have the basic interior. Bare metal doesn't seem right. Do you already take delivery?

I've had the car for a while. Just getting around to the trunk. I've got a trunk liner. I'm talking about the liner on the underside of the lid. I tried ordering a nice embroidered one from CAA but their G8 website was put on hold because of GMs problems. Figures.

The clips are about $AUD1ea here, so yeah US$2.67 each sounds about right.

I hear freight is really expensive from Oz.

If you can wait for them to come from Oz (2 weeks) you should be able to get 12 in your letterbox for US$20.
I'll have to check current price of the item on Tuesday to be sure.

Other than part numbers, etc., to confirm...the reason for it missing is because V6 cars have no liner but GT's and GXP's get it standard. Strange thing to remove because of the drivetrain, but that's how G8's have been since intro here.

Not all the V8 cars in Australia got the trunk liner either.

It could be a little like the Holden radiator covers.....the initial lots of VE cars in mid to late 2006 had them fitted. Then after maybe 6 months Holden just stopped fitting them. Word around the campfire is that it was strictly a cost cutting exercise.

ALL GTs and GXPs have the liner, check out the sales brochure. The liner was close to 100.00 US dollars. And there are 12 retainer pins. My dealer charged me over $4.00 each. Yes half the cost of the liner itself.

I think Greg at Pace got me the liner for around $80.00 and retainers for about $3.00 each. I'd check with him before you go through the dealer again. The price is still crazy, especially for the clips, but what can you do?

Add some postal system Airfreight and a set of 12 delivered = US$20.

If you have an Auto Zone near by they sell the clips $5.49 for a whole package. Just your standard Christmas tree style push pin. Look for the smaller of the two choices marked GM. Only difference is GM clip has a slight texture on the head. Also any body shop should be able to sell you some.

I just went to my local dealer here in Ottawa, and the prices for the lid liner, retainer clips, and the trunk cargo tray are rediculous! Lid Liner (pn 92171583) is $211.75; Retainer Clips (pn 92138253) are $10.34 each; and the Trunk Liner (pn 92207096) is $121.50. Total for the lot would be $457.33 plus taxes. YIKES!!!

Plus, there's no stock anywhere in Canada so even if I were rich enough to order them, who knows when they will arrive. Bummer!

The trunk lid liner dimensions are outside those allowable by postal system Airfreight. It can be shippped but costs a fortune to ship. DHL will do it but they'll charge on cubic dimensions not weight.

I'll check out the cost of the 12 retainers on Monday. I'm sure theres a saving to be had there at least.

My 09 GT came with out. I was out one night a met G8 v6 owner who asked me about it. His didnt come with one so he rented a G8 GT for a day an took it off that. Dont get me wrong i think its a bad thing to do. But people do it all the time my Dads buddy is a manager at a car rental place an hes says hes seen it all from full motor swaps, to tranny swaps ect:..
