Just swapped GXP mufflers for GT mufflers!

HOLY SHIT! The difference is night and day! I haven't driven it yet because I'm waiting on my wife to get home to watch our daughter. But start up is night and day. No rasp at all at start up. I'm pretty amazed at the difference in sound. I really didn't think it would be that much quieter. I'll report back once I get to drive it.

0 drone! I might have gotten a little used to how loud it was and forgotten how the stock GXP sounded but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a little quieter than the stock GXP.

If ARH's dyno results using long tubes and stock mufflers translate the same for the GXP as they did the GT then I will gladly give up the 3 or 4 horsepower to not have such a loud ass car.

Actually I felt like I lost power when I added the Vararam. I need a tune though. I don't think it's the intake. I think it's a combination of the headers and intake jacking up the tune. I didn't notice any power loss going with the GT mufflers. If anything it feels like I gained some. Not sure why that would be though.

glad it quieted it down for you.I bet the GXP muffs would sound perfect on a GT with LTs. Slightly smaller engine and a smaller cam shouldnt be as loud.

the extra backpressure from the gt exhaust is bringing the tune closer to accurate maybe?

Yea.....significantly quieter at idle...until you hit the gas!:devil: It may be the echo of your garage, but it still sounds pretty deeper and louder than GTs with same exhaust combo.

Yessir. Picked up an '09 G8 GT a couple weeks ago from Nino @ Gay Pontiac.

I'd love to hear what this sounds like. I've got my CAI and tune right where I want it, but I have yet to do anything with exhaust. I really want the Corsa, but at $1,700 it ain't gonna happen. :lame: But, if I can find a GXP guy that wants less noise and I want a little more noise.... maybe that would be the makings of a perfect deal!!! :)
