My buddy is coming up with his 06 vette tommorow. He's been talking a lot of shit on how slow my car is blah blah. His is stock with a tune. He dynoed at 350rwhp. The plan is to go to the track Saturday night. Obviously I know his car is faster than mine. With a good driver I figure he should run 12.5's. His car is also an auto so he cant miss shifts or anything. He has never been to a track before though. How hard is an ls2 auto vette to launch? I'm not saying i'm the best driver but i've been to the track quite a few times and am pretty confident I can pull at least 2.0 60's everytime. We're both on street tires. Do I have a chance in hell? :nud: My car ran 13.4@106 before the vararam. I'm hoping to pick up at least a tenth without a tune?

Not a chance.

Nope... Vette will eat ya! Get a tune and you will be closer. He's got more power less weight and I'm sure his trans shifts better than yours by a long shot.

The stock trans tune SUCKS!

:hang: So even if lets say he spins the hell out of it off the line and gets a 2.2-2.3 60' im still toast? Looks like I'm not betting those drinks on it.

What you need is a tune, long tube headers with full exhaust, then maybe you'll be close. you will be making about the same power. His advantage at that point would be his weight. Add a stall into the mix, then you may have yourself a kill.

How much does an ls2 vette weigh anyway? 3400?

Tell him he will need to over inflate his tires by 5lbs

Your at a 600 lb disadvantage already, plus 50 hp less. He should kick your ass and take names. He can leave the trac control on and it probably won't spin the tires. You've got one of the fasted g8's stock, but, it still won't matter. Do you have another friend with a vette and maybe you can borrow it for the run. LOL
Good luck and have some fun.

I have a good race planned as soon as the weather clears up, my dad's friend has a 04 Vette that he wants to race me with. I think I should be pretty close with him being stock. But yeah an ls2 Vette with a tune would hands down eat a stock G8 alive.

Id say no more 3200 pounds max, without drive of course.

I think the zo6 weighs in about 3200 and c6 about 3400. They took some weight off with titanium parts.

If you do a cam, I don't think you'll even need a Torque Converter.

You'll make plenty of power down low, enough to get a good 60' launch. Then it'll kick in the mid range & top end.

What you'll have then is a heavy car that will have a fantastic top end, but a crappy sluggish launch.

Well we didn't make it to the track since he showed up late and we had to install a vararam on the vette. We ended up going out to some bars after that . On the way there we caught a red light. We both hit it at the same time on green and where even atthe launch with about the same amount of wheelspin. He pulled about a car in 1st on me. At about 70 I let off since my wife was yelling at me and he had 2.5 and was pulling. Would have probably been 4-5 cars on the. 1/4. I'm gonna run him again after tune and exhaust

My best 60 ft without the cam was 2.03 and my best of only two runs with no practice with the cam was 2.1. I lost a little, but very little. Definitely don't need the converter, for street use anyway, with the Livernois stage 1 that is.

I won't be doing a converter bc of gas mileage. It's my dd and I need halfway decent mileage and I'm sure the can will cut into that some too.

Stall converters don't have the gas mileage hit they used to since modern converters lock.

Your highway mileage should be unaffected by the converter. Around town the stall may cost you some

Now a big hairy cam is a different story.
