Are there any concerns with the RPM level when pulling back into M3? If there isn't then that's just one less thing I need to monitor.

Why would you pull back into M3?

No. If you do it at 80 at WOT in sport mode all your doing is keeping it in 3rd gear.

To hold third through the 1/4 mile :)

If you pull the stick back while it's still in third it will stay in third, i don't think your supposed to wait untill it hits 4th than pull it back. At least that's what my car does.

It is also impossible to over-rev a G8 GT engine. If the rpms are over the rev limiter built into your ECM/TCM, the engine will not shift down until they are.

If you get drunk and decide to start your G8 and floor it in Park, or N, the ECM simply says "good grief, this fool is stoned again", and will not allow the engine rpms to go beyond about 4000. Fire up your GT and put a brick on the accelerator and watch from the front porch, or wherever. It will run out of gas eventually, but it won't damage the engine.

It will, however, really f*ck up your mileage.:p

I would think it would hit the rev limiter and the engine would lose power, because it usually shifts to 4th gear before the finish line. Gearhead told me tried that and the car fell on it's face before the end.

guess it depends on how much you spin at the tree :)
