Here are some pics of the Vararam on ITBFST. It pulls a lot harder from 5,000 rpms up and thats without the HSRK! As soon as I get my harness I will retest it with the HSRK.

I know! Under Charlie's hood it is like spotless! Super nice. I felt bad when I saw my cam install pictures because my engine area looked dirty compared to everyone else's.....

Charlie:

That Vararam CAI looks really nice. Do you think it is worth getting rid of my Roto Fab in favor of this Vararam unit? Can't wait to see the results with the HSRK on...... :)

Yep, I see that. It looks like Vector should finalize tuning for it this coming week. I'll do a search, but who is selling the Vararam? (Performance companies / sponsors)? - which ones....

So, Charlie - do you think it will really help in the second half of the 1/4 mile, because of the big difference on the top end? (Especially with the HSRK in there...)

Yes it will. You can get in on the group buy and get it from Vararam.

I know this has been gone over somewhat already, but what do you think makes this cai have better top end than say a RF? I'm trying to justify buying one is why I'm asking Charlie.

I'm on the list for my GXP.

1. What's your feeling about any increased risk of taking a drink from heavy rains versus the OEM box?

2. I was wondering if it would benefit from the HSRK, I'll get that ordered too. ;- )

No way it can gulp water, the scoop faces down. Yes, get an HSRK!

I am using all Earls AnoTuf fittings and Proflex 350 for all of that, but the overflow hoses in red would be nice!

I would say yes. I base that answer on how much I had to do to get my Roto to make HP when it was out.

Are you going to put your HSRK in the same spot G8Ray did or are you going to try something different?

Might experiment, but I told Ray where to put his as I knew that was a good spot.

I think the radiator covers look good on stock cars, but once you start modding I like to see everything.

Does "I would say yes" mean, it does make more top end hp? And "how much I had to do to get my RF to make HP when it was out", what does this mean? Charlie, I'm sorry but I'm not getting something here.

I can say yes for sure after the dyno results. :) I modified my lower panel and made a block off plate for my Roto and it really helped. The Vararam does not need these mods.

Charlie, love the way you routed the wiring harness under the Vararam filter...loved it so much I did it as well. Only thing I noticed while doing it was I had wires and connector running from the center of the harness to the front of the grill. I basically unwrapped the wire loom and wires to relocate just those wires. So question is did you run into the same issue when routing your wiring harness under your unit? If you didnt have to do the same what did you do with that set of wires and connector? I would send pictures...but after seeing how clean yours looks...I decided against it....lol.

Hmmmm... charlie i think you "might" have issues claiming your warranty. :) I love it.

Some people are like, "i think i'll wait untill my warranty expires to make the MODs, I say why? if you mess something up then your definetly not gonna get it fixed, at least now you have a chance of gettin away with it.

Well just finished up an afternoon of work, Heater hose relo, billet prototype catch can, installing the Vararam, Vector HSRK and leaving the top cover out. I am BEYOND THANKFUL Charlie said to get the HSRK, on the GXP there is not nearly enough slack in the MAF harness to reach, I don't know if the GT is the same way, but if it is, it'd be good to make mention of it in the instructions under the 'required materials/items needed space'.

Thanks Charlie!

With this said, uh, YEH! The car sounds evil. Putting SLP PowerFlo's on it quieted it down from stock, but when you lay into it w/ the Vararam and the tach passes 4K it sounds down right ANGRY.

Akin to LT1-99-SS, I shaved barbs on the brass pvc elbow on the inlet track side, I cut down 1 2/3rds and polished it down to leave two remaining and deburred it.

An additional comment would be the VMS's instructions for the HSRK were spot on in suggesting a Step Drill bit for fitting w/ the grommet, this was the perfect tool for the box and a bit of massaging of it I.D. of the groment with a normal bit low speed netted a good fit and seal.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help gents!

There's not many dirt roads in Clarks Summit. CS is a suburb (if you could call it that) of Scranton. All of the Drs, Lawyers and other people with a few bucks from Scranton live in CS, Dalton, Waverly and the surrounding area.

I currently live in Union Dale, we have lots of dirt roads. ;)

We are moving to CS, we are selling our house in the country and moving to the "city". lol

Is there any real need for a HSRK with the Vararam OTR? If yes, where's the best place to put it and should i take any precautions with the install?

EDIT: nevermind i forgot that the HSRK has a much faster reacting sensor, answered my own question.
