Ive been reading old posts and came across a post where G8V8 installed a backup camera. He made the below cable.

I was considering trying it with an ipod video and trying a cable like this and a Y cable (for the audio).

I was thinking of making something like this also.

To see if i could actually get audio and video at the same time, But I dont know if the audio and video will come out at the same time since they are on separate inputs (see pic).

Can someone that has more "electronics" experience help me out here to see if im even on the right track?

Thanks.

Yes,that's exactly what you need to do. The A/V input on the side is considered one input (called rear aux) and when you plug your ipod in, you can watch and hear your movies on the car stereo.

You will need the VIM mod if you want video playback while moving though.

I have mine hooked up that way.

I bought the VIM module from JHP, made my own AV cable then have the iPod hooked up and charging using a PIE av-IPD cable.

I am using a 120GB iPod Classic. The audio and video works and it charges from the car. Whatever cable you buy make sure the manufacturer specifies it will work with your particular iPod. The newer models require a different cable than the older ones.

The PIE-av-iPD works with all of them as well as the PAC-iC-AV2. The cheaper PAC-iC-AV will not charge or pass video from the newer iPods.

I don't have any pictures I haven't figured out my dash mount yet.
