IIRC, the Dr's car made 450 with the ported heads. So, that leads me to believe that head porting is worth approx 25hp.

Correct?

Very nice congrats Mike! Sounds like a very good number especially with the stall. I was expecting lower, now I'm really wondering how much the stall pulls from the numbers.

Steve- any guesses on mine? Stage II, ported heads, 1 7/8lts, offroad x-pipe, and 3" back, and vararam. Before and after 3200 stall?

If you'd like we can do the H/C swap then pull it with the stock converter, then pull it with the stall just so we all can see the difference.

Fantastic results. Is the stage 1 package not listed on your site, or am I just blind. Was looking for the price of the package, but I will just search for it....I believe it's been discussed before correct?

Great! Was that dyno number before or after the converter?

I think it's posted in Vector's forum.

Very nice...hard to argue with the results that a mild cam, intake, headers, and tune are doing for this car.

Well Mike, I remember using the word "explosive" to describe how your car is going to accelerate. Probably a good word for it. Your car must be putting out over 450 rwhp when you take into account the effect of the stall.

:poof:

Honestly I would like to see the numbers without the stall but obviously that's not going to happen. But 25hp gain if your doing the heads. Hmmm

Thanks all! Especially Kirk, Greg, & Steve @ Vector Motorsports!

I love the car & did not get to drive it enough in the Detroit Metro Area. It takes off like it should have NASA on the side of it.

I'm looking forward to running it at the track next weekend.

I just got home a little bit ago & went outside and played with our 2 year old daughter Addie. She was having a blast outside!

P.S. To everyone doing cams, if you have the extra cash, have the heads ported. I'm laying the guilt trip on the wife. :)

I love my results, but it's good to see a comparison between Dana Miller's car & mine. Things are good... :)

After talking with Kirk, he said that you guys would be doing just that.:woohoo:

After converter, he had it in before the cam.

Mike, you better post an instant review the second you are done driving the new beast.

Well I drove it home yesterday from Clinton Twp, MI to Coleman, MI. If I had the time I would of taken it out to Woodward, but I did play around with a modded WRX on M-59 getting back onto I-75. We didn't go from any lights or anything.

It will chirp the tires at part throttle on the 1-2 shift.

I'm watching our 2 year old daughter today Addison. My wife is shopping and Addie likes my spirited driving, but with the new cam she'd probably get freaked out! :)

I'll take it out for some test driving this evening when my wife gets home (she's shopping with her sister), and/or tomorrow.

Take offs at WOT should take some finesse, but that will be fun to master!

I love it! (Should have strong armed the wife into letting me port the heads though!) Damn!.... :)

Sounds great Mike. But quit torturing us and give us the full low down, would ya?!!! Mine chirps the tires on partial throttle on the 1-2 also. Kinda fun huh. Did Kirk also mention that you were reading about 25-30 rwhp low cause of the stall?

By the way, I predict you will be turning 12.5 @116 mph when you get it to the track (assuming you get decent traction). Hey, maybe someone can start a pool, closest to Mike's time gets a Vararam or something.

The minus 26rwhp and minus 20rwtq in my set up vs. Dana Miller's VMS cam set up is most likely due to the fact that he had his heads fully ported and I did not. My bad, actually my wife's bad, but it's all good.

It can be a learning experience, port the heads. Might as well. :)

Soooooo Kirk/Steve,
If you were to add a stroker kit to the slayer package with the ported heads we'd be right around 500 rwhp-all motor??
About how much more $$ for a 4" stroker kit installed in customer's motor at the same time?
Is torque converter upgrade necessary?

A forged 402? Nice

Add the "Charlie cam" to that mix.

I would like to see this on a dyno jet... And honestly i dont buy 30rwhp low just because of the converter... Good results though and im not trying to stir the pot..

Most converters are 25+ HP loss, but I dont care about dyno #s. Also, gears do the same thing. I saw a Mustang go from 3.27 gears to 4.10 and lose 15 hp. Same dyno, same air temps etc. The car did pick up .45 at the track though.....

The 26 rwhp & 20 rwtq numbers difference from my car to Dr. Dana Miller's car (and higher numbers) are legit. But him & I both have 3200 Yank Torque Converters. So the only difference in our 2 cars is that Dana has ported heads, and I do not. :(

Hi Steve! Again, it was nice meeting you. And please tell Kirk & Greg that I am absolutely loving my car. It is idleing really well and I cannot wait until this weekend to take it to the drag strip.

I will definitely be getting the Vararam CAI, but I'm going to make some runs with my setup (with the Roto Fab cai), and then do the Vararam. (And see what the difference is in the 1/4). Especially now that you guys have a tune for the Vararam.

Thanks again & I'm sure I'll see you....... :)

Anyone know about how far up the torque peak moved with the head porting?
