Here is what Cars.com has to say about a question regarding why our cars have less horsepower for 09 model year. Now i could be wrong, but from what i know the difference is in the gas used, not a difference in the exhaust systems.

The first models were rated with high octane and the later with low octane as suggested by the MFG.

Gas rating does seem to be the change. Same exhaust manifolds for 08&09 and GXP.

You really think Jim is wrong and the rampant speculation on the internet is right? This is the closest to official word that we've heard on it. The rest has been pure guessing.

Anyone who pulled their stock exhaust off of a 2008 car and 2009 car would know. Take a look at it, they're both exactly the same.


Ask.com can be very entertaining sometimes.

Yahoo Questions can be as well. Just google "How is babby formed".

so just by getting a tune for a higher octane rating will gain you hp.

"Emissions" could mean anything from the tune (like not being so pig rich) to tighter cat internals to different EGR function...

Yes a higher octane tune will allow you to pull more timing, thus making more power.
