So Tigger :tigger: got to chew on a fine piece of German engineering today, but after looking up what the hell the car was I believe it might have been driver error. I was coming home from work on I-75 tooling about 75 in the high speed lane when beside me comes a Mercedes, two door hard top. I checked out his car at the same time as he is checking me out and I see him nose ahead and drop back...He repeats this again and I drop it into sport mode........Patiently waiting.
I was rewarded quickly with his nose leaping in front of me and I floor it. At 115 I have a fender on him and hold that up to 135 :poof: when we both back out of it because of traffic.:first: He waves:woohoo:and I back down to fall in behind him as I didn't have a clue what it was......A Mercedes-Benz SL AMG 6.3 with Alabama Manufacturers plates.....:surprise::spank:
Chalk one up for :usa2: /Australia! (We need an Australian flag emoticon)
That will teach him:spc:

I will go with driver error. 90% of its torque is at 2000 rpms. I have driven a SL55amg and a RENNTECH edition and at speeds we are NO match. It has a 7speed trans. Just be glad you got to see one!

I'm amazed that it took what you have to barely beat that AMG 6.3.

With your mods that should be a good outcome...my neighbor has a CL63 AMG and he is trapping 113-114 at the local track...with your mods and him getting the jump sounds about right! Good kill!

Yea...After researching it when I got home, I also have to conclude driver error....But....I still win the race. That's all that counts this time! ;)

He has me by about 30HP....Stock compared to mine. Not to mention he has me way beat on torque.

Its simple. Both cars weigh close to the same and with your current mods he has you by 100HP and 50FT LBS of TQ. I am right down the street from a Benz dealer and I eat a lot of them, but having driven many and being a driver, I will say, just because you can buy a $135,000, does not mean you can DRIVE a $135,000 car. :)

the 63's aren't all that when it comes to a roll race, like I said, 113-114 traps, which is not to hard for a bolt on cam car. They are unbelieveable machines, but your trapping 114, right with them. Now a 65 amg forget it...you need TT's to even hang...lol

His traps are because of wheel spin though too.

I'm sure those specs on the Benz are crank hp and torque where as manofsteel69's are at the wheels, seems like a legitimate kill to me, no driver error.

I don't think it was driver error at all. He raced a SL63 AMG. They can be beaten with his car. Even though it still might have more peak power on him, I bet Tiger has better curves.

SL65 AMG would have been driver error.

Not sure if G8GT721s numbers are 100% but if they are you are a little off there Charlie... those MB numbers are at the crank, and Tigger's are at the wheels... assuming 14% drivetrain loss tigger is 495HP and 453 at the crank...

That is 30 HP and 12 TQ at the crank or 26 HP 10 TQ at the wheels... Hardly earth shattering when you think how close a mustang is to a camaro and there is 100 HP difference.

That and you weigh 279LBS less than him stock for stock... probably more now that you have deleted DOD...

Seriously I think these cars are about evenly matched.

I think that was an honest kill

Definately a good debate no matter how you shake it. Doubtful I'll ever see one around Toledo again, but was very cool just the same. Bummer was I couldn't hear what his sounded like over mine :)

yeah, but you are all forgetting one important variable!!!!

THE WONDERFUL THING ANOUT TIGGER,IS TIGGERS A WONDERFUL THING!

(who remembers THAT song!)

p71

their tops are made out of rubber...
their bottoms are made out of springs...
they're bountcy trouncy flouncey poncey
fun fun fun fun fun
but the most wonderful thing about tiggers
is I'm the only one,
Yes I'm the only on!

only had to check one line on that... could not remember the word "pouncey"

My observation is that Mercedes AMG engines are stronger than their hp numbers would suggest. I assume their hp numbers are quoted at the crank as ours are. That being the case, TIGGER should have won and did, big win there ManoSteel. But as I said, Mercedes AMG engines are reeeeally strong beyond their hp numbers, therefore it was oh so close.

If it was a dead stop its all TIGGER, but not a roll. The 7 spd trans keeps it in the TQ band and yes I did not calculate fairly, but the germans are always low at the wheels. Good run nonetheless.

Not so sure about that Charlie. The 6.3 L is rated at 507 hp, or at least it was. Don't know what Tigger is putting out at the crank but now that I think about it, it's probably right about there.

Well, at Milan I got an official clarification from an owner of one of these bad-ass rides. His was running 11.6 lol, not stock. He was at about 600RWHP. I explained the run to him and after seeing Tigger in action at the track gave me the fair kill. He said the best run stock for one of these is a 12.4, and that was under optimal conditions. Woot! KILL!

With the mods you have you should be able to beat him.
My friends uncle has one and on a mustang dyno, we got 426rwhp

Jay:

Dude, I'm not even sure if I've seen this thread! That is a definite confirmed kill. I guess if there is difference among the AMG cars (in power/speed), I'll have to do some reading up.

Again, nice kill..... :)

Good kill. I ran into a CLS or SL 63 AMG a few weeks ago. I was no match lol.
