After doing all this work on my car, you see how to really make a car unique and detailed with simple things. My idea is this: Most of the bolts on the G8 are NOT reusable. Whether its suspension or engine. I am going to put a kit together of a complete rear suspension bolt kit that will be socket(Allen) head in stainless A-2 (18-8) or steel grade 12.9 (black). The other kit will be for the intake area. All the bolts for the intake, fuel rail, coils, and coil bracket. This will really make the engine look killer as all those stupid unnecessary studs will be gone. Please post if you would be interested in this. It will include all washers and nuts for rear suspension and the intake kit will have stainless washers as well. I will offer just the intake kit for those that have the Holden or Roto-Fab covers.

Here is a list of the different kits that will be available for your engine.

All bolts are allen head stainless A-2 (18-8)

#1 This kit will convert your throttle body, intake manifold and fuel rails.
18 bolts and 18 washers

#2 This kit will convert your coils and brackets.
26 bolts and 26 washers

#3 Contains all items from #1 & #2

All of these bolts should be torqued to 89 inch lbs.

Will one be able to order just the bolts necessary to do what is required for minor rear suspension work or will one have to order the whole kit? What about a front suspension kit?
On top of that, what ball park price are we looking at?

Under the hood will be easy as you just remove 1 at a time replace and retorque. Underhood should take 30 minutes.

I might get the underhood done this weekend. I didnt get the calipers done today and tomorrow I know I wont get to work on it, so without the new tune, I will get all this misc. items done on Sunday and post pics as long as all the bolts are available. Maiden voyage delayed..

We have just been so busy and running a business versus just doing the work eats up a lot of time when its busy. I wont drive it any distance until I am satisfied with the tune. Then the fine tuning can begin. Its not like its a mile off, its just dumping too much fuel when hot. Soon enough! Its been a little over a month........whats a few more days.

Charlie, what bolts have to be replaced for the basic rear bushing changes? I am going to be doing those, along with swaybars (both) and coilovers (4 corners) in the next couple of weeks. It would be good to have a list of the sizes...my guess is that shipping heavy bolts will likely end up making it more practical to buy locally...

...although perhaps looking for a good online vendor may be better yet. I find I can do SO MUCH better for MANY things online than locally.

I havent found them local and have even used some fastener sources. All bolts except sway bars and alignment settings. 6 on each side if you are doing everything like I have.

Quickie update: The "big" kit will include 44 stainless allen head bolts with 44 stainless washers. This will allow you to change the intake bolts, fuel rail bolts, coil bolts, coil bracket bolts and throttle body bolts. It appears it will be $89.95 shipped to you. I will have all bolts labled where they go to make it easy and the torque specs will be 89 inch pounds for all of them. Let me know! I have enough for 10 ordered, but 1 is for me! :headbang:

The long bolts that you remove from the intake must have the washers removed and reused. Here is a pic to show you the easy/fast way to do it. All bolts require a 5mm allen socket so they can be torqued.

Take a pair if needle nose and set on top of washer and smack pliers with hammer and it comes right off.

Seeing those pics make me sick!!! I just swapped my LS6 intake on my TA to my FAST, and the cowl did a number on my arms! Nice to have them basically right in front of you on the G8.

On topic post - The stainless upgrade is really worth it aside from the appearance benefits. I don't know if you went into detail much, but while removing my LS6 a couple bolts were quite rusted, which made the threading process much more tedious. Luckily FAST provided my with stainless bolts similar to yours Charlie, and it was smooth as butter installing it, even threading by hand. Which was nearly impossible with rusted stock bolts.

I'll be getting mine soon Charlie. Gotta get some actual performance mods under my belt first!:)

Bump and are these available fairly quick?? Might order these before my car goes in for the new broom stick, udp and ported intake

Thinking about offering the bolt kits again. I am really only interested in offering package #3 (44 bolts and 44 washers). Just want to see how many of you would be interested. The price would still remain $89.95 shipped.

Charlie,
I would definitely be in for package #3 and have you install them during our project. I assume they are stronger and reusable.

#1 This kit will convert your throttle body, intake manifold and fuel rails.
18 bolts and 18 washers

#2 This kit will convert your coils and brackets.
26 bolts and 26 washers

#3 Contains all items from #1 & #2

All of these bolts should be torqued to 89 inch lbs.

i may need two of these #3's - how soon might these be ready ?

also, 89 inch lbs is equal to 7.416 ft lbs, correct ?
