We recently installed a Corsa catback and "X" style crossover pipe on our 2009 G8 GXP. We put the car on the dyno to get results from just the exhaust, the exhaust and a tune, then the exhaust, Rotofab CAI, and tune.
For the small amount of mods, we are happy with the results. Now we just need the weather to stay nice so the track can open.

It was cool to see the gains. I showed up as the tuned run was being made, and witnessed the 3 roto-fab intake pulls. Consistant pulls each time @ 410HP and 410TQ. Unreal! The corsa exhaust sounds awesome. Very stealthy at idle, and sounds awesome at WOT.

Very nice! So about 40hp +/- with the "big 3" mods. Excellent!

How much hp do you think a GT would benefit from changing the catback? I wanted to leave mine stock because I like it quit but not if it's going to rob 12rwhp.

There is more left in that car, the tune was quick and dirty and Dan was rushing to get his car off the dyno so project shit box could get on. I'd keep your eyes peeled for more numbers knowing these guys LOL

Probably going to be a bigger pickup on the GT% wise... GXP has a better stock exhaust.

Was running the video clip and the wife stopped walking by and sat down. She liked the exhaust sound. She even said, hey does that have a manual transmission? Anyone have a clip of the Corsa catback on a GT. It may have to be my next mod after the daughters wedding in May.

I wonder who's car that is. Glad you left the engine bay dark in the photo. We wouldn't want to give away the 454 stroker engine Andy slipped in there while no one was looking.

The stock corvette cam with the 6 spd. manual looks like a very healthy combination; and that's without LTs. What do you suppose it would put out with the stage 1 cam?

Most impressive.
Add me to the list of "I shoulda waited", given that the GXP is making 70whp more than comparably equipped GTs.

Change your cam, that and 12ci are the major differences between that car and yours.
Well, that and the M6.
lol
Nice results.

Heh conversely I think this is the ONLY time I've actually been able to wait it out... almost gave in a few times... DOH!

Change your cam
Yeah they are calling to me...."more duration, more lift"......:)
Seriously though, cammed "Stage 1" GTs are making 420-450, w/ headers.
What do you guys think a cammed GXP will make? Is it as dramatic as the GT (likely not given the GTs baby cam), but seems like 475whp with a cam/headers should be easy.

I would really like to see a G8 with a stock GXP cam and the lighter intake valves for a comparison. Our factory cam kills our potential performance. On another note, the average G8 picks up close to 40RWHP with a Roto/tune showing just how handicapped they are from the factory. It the same heads, cam and compression and exhaust were on both I would expect about a 12-15 HP difference. Dont forget, the M6 is probably putting 15 more to the wheels because its a manual. An automatic needs to be tested ASAP!

Chris tested a stock one a while back, and the numbers were quite a bit lower with the auto.

I couldnt find the #s. I think the GXP is awesome and would not expect any less from it or Livernois. I just hate to see people say they should have waited when the performance #s are not based on auto vs. auto. I got to see GXGP4NOWs yesterday and they are nice. I just dont see me going this far with another G8. Now a Camaro on the other hand.........

I just noticed this question. Dan is the most conservative tuner I have ever seen. So I would definitely put it WAY on the conservative list...

To reiterate my earlier post and to add to this, this was a quick and dirty tune, nothing Dan would ever put on a customers car I'm sure. Literally I told him what I had done on another GXP just screwing around on the street, he mirrored some of that and did his own thing as well and viola there it was. There is more left in it I'm sure we'll see another video soon, basically you guys can blame me he was rushing to get this done so we could get project shit box on the dyno LOL

Yeah but not on the same dyno nor was it broken in IIRC one had about 300 miles on it (that was months ago) the other one I think only had like 100 or so, so still not a "fair" comparison :(

auto vs. auto
True enough..a 5% at 400 hp is 20. Although I don't think the M6 vs. A6 is a 5% difference is it?
Found this:

It might be 5%....:(

Man, I'd still really like to know how much my car would have dyno'ed with everything, but the Torque Converter.
I can't imagine I'm making that much less than a GXP, with exhaust, cai, & tune. (I know I've got LT vs. just cat-backs on this particular GXP).
Darkside: I'm really anxious to find out your dyno pulls before & after you have the Torque Converter on.

The convertor will definately cost you some HP....And won't really do you much good once you get the cam done. I was told by Mike @ New Era, and Dan @ Livernois that the convertor is pointless for me now.

I agree, I wouldn't regret my purchase at all if I had a GT. I do have a GXP but thats cause I wanted the M6 period. If I was buying an auto I would most likely go with the GT and put my money in mods.
The engines except bore and camshaft are very similar.....
Thanks

I think the main word in that comment is 'you'. If manofsteel has H/c and a Maggie he is going to have enough traction problems to solve. Mike on the other hand, would benefit greatly from a stall.
