Took the car to the hand wash today and when I brought it home to dress up the tires I find this...

Only two weeks old, my wife said she didn't do it and there is no way it could have happened at the car wash.

Was it one of those washes that you drive one wheel over this metal sensor that holds your wheel?

It looks fairly old as it looks like it's oxidized under the clear.

Same thing happened to me when I took my Grand Prix to the car wash with the rolling sensor that holds onto the back of your tire and pushes the car through the car wash. Needless to say my two drivers side GXP rims were scratched and scored. Sorry that happened.

I think he said "hand wash" so there would not be any rollers of any sort would there?

Someone must have brushed a curb at a drive through etc. and didn't realize it.

I'd get another rim, or just buff the dirt out and spray clear.

I know how painful that is to see your new car damaged in some way.

Yes, it was a hand wash so no rollers. I've taken all my other cars there before and no problems. I drove right back to the wash and asked if I could take a look around. Nothing there could have done it.

Sorry the pics don't show as much detail as I'd like. In fact there is a bit of blue and yellow paint. I'm sure it was the wifey at a drive-thru but she won't say. I think she's just embarrassed that it happened so soon. Its not bad enough to get another wheel. I'll just deal with it for now.

Buy another wheel and use that one as a spare... that is what I do when I scratch a rim on a new car.
