I passed another G8 yesterday and we both looked at each other and kinda gave a nod. Which brings me to my question. Should we wave to each other when we pass? I used to have a wrangler and it was the norm to wave to another passing Jeep. So should a wave be started for the G8?

I do. Most turn around as they recognize the car, so I am never on time for anything if I see a G8! :)

i drove pass two seperate G8's in the last couple months and i shared a little nod with both. it feels like we're saying, "you know what's up/i know what's up". i don't know about a wave though..

Only saw one other G8 in my area, but I did have a Eclipse with a fart can on pull in front of me and rev his engine, and when I came to his side he had the look on his face like, "I want to race you and see how bad you beat my ass" kinda thing. I just laughed.

I've only seen 1 G8 on the road. It was the dealer that wouldn't let me test drive their 1st G8. I flipped 'em off.

I have only seen one other G8 on the road. Was driving to work and passed a liquid red,....... slowed down immediately to get eye contact. It was a 70 year old lady looking over the steering wheel driving "Miss Daisy like".

I see GOT8 regularly in my work travels. We exchange waves, as I do with all other g8s. Could be a Texas thing. Haven't developed the skills yet to try out the window thing at 100mph...must practice!

I do this, too. You're probably right about it being a Texas thing, I grew up there but Uncle Sam thought it would be funny to station me 20 minutes from the border in louisiana... anyway, I think the OP is talking more of a "vette wave" kinda thing...

I've only had my 09 liquid red for a two weeks and already have seen three others (same color) within a couple blocks from my house. I know its different cars because one has tinted windows, one has blacked out wheels and one is completely stock like mine.

The guy with the blacked out wheels nodded at me and the other two were flying by...

its funny before I got into this G8 I would never see them on the road and I would never see GTO's. Now I see atleast 1 a day sometimes more.

Recently saw another on the road yesterday, both of us waved at each other.

Happened to be a Panther Black as well, think it may have had the sport pack, and he definitely had a roof. Damn I wish I had a roof now. :hang:

I still don't see that many on the road but when I do I'm sure to throw a nod or a wave. Some don't even give me the time of day...others are more enthusiastic. Had a lady in a white hot pull along side & yell "NICE CAR!" one day. It reminds me of when I'm out at the desert off-roading...everyone nods or waves as you go by. It's like we all belong to an exclusive club. shhhh.

I will nod, wave or give thumbs up.. however, the two times I have done this, it was an elderly lady (in a LR V6) and a middle aged lady (in a MSM GT), neither waved back.

I was going to ask the same question about getting a wave started. From years riding around with my Dad in his corvette and waving to the other vettes it seemed cool. You could always tell the people who understood the car and would wave back. I tried the wave in my camaro and only once ever got another one to wave back.

If I see another G8, I'm a waving.

I think we should. My wife loves the "Corvette Wave" when she is driving around. I never see any G8s here ,but will try it if I do.

I'm mostly in NF but I'm up there all the time at customer's sites. There are a few G8s in NF I see regularly. A Red V6, White GT and a Black GT. It most likely wasn't you because it was in NF.

I'm surprised at how many are around now. I hadn't seen a single one for 8 months after I got mine.

Oh, on topic..Most are tinted if you wave you can't see them anyways..

I did around a 3,000 mile trip from WI to FL a couple weeks ago. Only saw 3 G8's (1 GT). One G8 we passed on I75 gave me "thumbs up" and I gave a wave/nod.

I'm going to start waving like I did when I had my '01 Jeep Wrangler.

I wave to any G8 passer-by-ers, except the one I call the "clone". Long story short: A kid in town bought a TA after I did, and made his look EXACTLY like mine, two months after my wife and I bought the G8, the kids mom showed up w/ a G8, shockingly EXACTLY like mine!

I was excited one day I saw one in my rear view and I slowed down and gave him a wave. But he was with his ugly fat wife, windows and sun roof opened and didn't even looked... I know he saw me because he rode behind me for like two blocks and my car color stands out like a blond girl in harlem. And that fucker didnt wave back! :( As I slowed down behind him I noticed he had a v6 so I figured he was hating so I hauled ass and got next to him, he saw me again and didn't do nothing so I pointed at him and his car laughed and took off.

I think that, with these cars being more subtle than, say, a Firehawk or Ram Air TA, mostly it'll be fellow G8 owners taking notice.

So far I've only seen one other G8 in town, and it was parked. When I finally do see one in motion I'll give a quick wave, same as with our other hot rods.

I wave if they wave. I learned this long ago when I was a young boat captain riding along with an old captain. People going by in private boats would wave and Capt. Odie always waved back but I never did. I asked him why he bothered and he said "Capt. Tom, Some day you may need that guy to stop and help you out. He'll remember if you waved back at him or not".

I did pass a newer GTO and we both raised our hands at each other.

Yea that was me. And he's hardly what I would call a friend lol.

He bought a red/black TA and transformed it into black/chrome just like mine, same tail lights everything.

We bought the G8, and about 6 mths later, his mom showed up w/ a G8 like ours, except they have the 18" rims while we have the 19" rims.

So I resorted to adding the Holden V8 badges and painting the calipers red. It's a little different now.
