View Full Version : Dirty throttle body?

When i was installing my volant cai, i noticed that the bottom part of the throttle body had some kinda dirty grease or grime on the bottom of the tb. i cleaned it with a napkin but i wanted to know if this is normal or what is the deal? i noticed it was only where the tb opened to let air in if that makes any sense. i have 5k on it and i just wanted to see if anyone has experienced anything similar.

I think it's from the valve cover breather thats why so many guys at installing a catch can.

They make T/B cleaner in a can. Use it to clean it real well and then get yourself a catch can from James.

Yep, I ordered mine from Billet Inc. (James Biz). It should be here this week. I'm going to have it put on when I get my VMS cam done! :)

right on, thanks for the input. i googled it right after i posted and found that the breather hose spits all that shit right back into the tb. Thanks for the responses people!!

There's a catch can for the throttle body? I thought they were for oil? (Im not very mechanical) Anyone have pics and/or a link to one on the web?

Never mind i found it! :D

Gotta get me one of these my TB was filthy when i last cleaned it.

http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=3756 Goes in line with the PCV. It catches the oil before being injected back for reburn. I open mine up and dump it in the recycle bin.

It's all good!
