View Full Version : Issue with rear alignment, camber, was told my rear LCA needs replaced

Went to local shop to have alignment done after new wheels and tires. Was told camber on my right rear could not be adjusted because the bolt in the Lower control arm just spins. Informed the part had to be bought from a dealer and I had to buy the whole, control arm. Does this sound right? I have seen replacement bolts out there during my search, or so I thought. Should I just replace both lower control arms? Car has 86 k and I have not had any suspension issues. TEINS and Fe3 setup has less that 10k miles on it.

Any help is appreciated.

when you checked , were you asking the dealer about the bolts ?

cant say the last time ive seen GM make you replace a bolt with buying the whole control arm

No, I had not checked with the dealer yet, that is just what the tech told me at the local shop.

i know everyone hates the dealer , but its worth it to check

The bolt and washer are replaceable. I can get you the part numbers later. Mine just came in. It's about $22 for the parts.

You may run into the issue that the camber bolt is corroded so badly into the LCA bushing that it cannot be removed. If that happens the bolt will need to be cut and a new LCA (or at minimum a new bushing) will be needed.
