man that makes me think twice about going to the track! My friend did almost the same thing in a Supra... one of the rear suspension mounts broke :(

It can happen on the street,too.

The good thing about the track is there's an ambulance right there.

I think if your car was that messed up it would take quite a story for them to pay up. Then, you got to hope that your agent or the adjuster doesn't watch YouTube.

That is messed up. He looks like he was OK from the pictures if that was him. I know if it was me, I would have been laying on the track crying.

You would think he has to be on one of the forums if he is out racing it and running 13.2's.

Does anyone have a copy of a state farm policy? I never got one and im curious what it says about racing?? I know that some insurance companies have paid out on cars crashed at lapping days as it was not racing...

Great! I was just arguing with my parents for an hour about the track. They don't want me to go for this exact reason and there I was arguing with them that it won't happen and I never heard of it (crashing) happening with our cars and it'll be fine, yata yata yata, and then I log on and see this. This better not be a sign :poke:

I was wondering about the white pipe too, it must be a post that was on the wall on the side of the track. Did you guys notice that the impact collapsed both the rear mufflers and tips inward? It must have pushed the motor & trans backwards quite a bit for that to happen. I feel sorry for that guy.....

Aren't some of the guys running in sport mode and when they are in 3rd pulling it back into manual mode? Look what happened, the car basically turned left. If something in the tranny let it actually downshift to second or even 1st at WOT, then the shits gonna hit the fan. I know that shouldn't happen, but, if it was modified an anyway who knows what could have happened. You couldn't tell if the car was still a wot or not, all you could hear after they passed the camera was the chevelle. Just a thought.

From the pics, it looks like he slapped the wall with the passenger's side rear after the nose hit.

I think it's the bumper that is pushed out, that's why the exhaust looks like it's drawn up under the car.

The report from that thread is it broke loose when he hit the N2O.

The trans will NOT downshift to 2nd at 80MPH.

Dammit! We are losing too many G8s, too soon. WTF? If it isn't a little 85 year old lady wandering in front of you, it's something like this. I just don't like it! :(

Must have been a big shot of nos. I didn't see a purge at the line, but, he was on the other side of the track. Now if he were in the manual mode, he could have pulled it back instead of slapping it forward. Something weird happened thats for sure.

Even if the car had downshifted for whatever reason it would just hit the rev limiter and cut fuel which probably would have kept him from crashing.

Talked to a reputable tuner last night and I told him I thought something happened with the tranny, he stated that if someone tuned the tranny that didn't know what they were doing that it could have downshifted in the manual mode even though it can't from the factory or with a the correct professional tcm tune. I wish the guy who crashed it would post up and let us know wtf happened. The tuner I talked to also looked at the video and was puzzeled as we all are.
