Anyone elses rear wheels get dirtier 10 times faster then the fronts? After a few days of driving, the front wheels are pretty much clean and the backs are almost gray. I took some pics but its raining out so they arent the greatest. Even before I washed it last, the back wheels had considerably more brake dust.

I think it may actually be regular dust and not brake dust. Rear tires usually catch more airborne debris than the front tires. If it is brake dust then your brake system is in serious need of inspection because the front brakes typically do the majority of the work.

These pads dust like crazy. I can wash my car, drive to and from work the next day and the wheels are filthy. The rear brakes are actually larger, maybe that is part o fthe reason. I'll be putting ceramics on at around 10k.

interesting...mine stay pretty clean with minimal brake dust. And I do a lot of city driving...so I put them to good use :)

The occasional squealing when I'm in reverse in the mornings backing out of my driveway still drives me crazy though.

I dont understand how some people are getting a lot of brake dust and others aren't unless GM changed the pads at some point. My front brakes dust very little, the backs are horrible. Maybe the wheels have something to do with it? Maybe the 19s have more room from the brake dust to escape out onto the wheel? My buddy who has an 08 with the 18's hasnt washed his car in weeks and his rear wheels are as clean as his fronts. My car that got washed last week has a ton on the rear wheels.

Heres a couple I just took.

And this is from a few weeks ago when I was doing my HID install

Traction control might be producing some of the brake dust.

I have the 18s, and I have the same "problem". I have only owned the car a week, and the two times I washed it, the rears were absolutely filthy, while the fronts weren't too bad. I am h oping the proportioning valve isn't allowing the rears to grab a lot harder than front for some reason. All feels normal.

This seems to be a common problem in the Southern states where many drivers have a penchant for taking off cross country as a shortcut. This results in numerous high speed collisions with cow patties. That is NOT dust! :p

Mine are 19's and the front has shown some brake dust but all have stayed fairly clean so far. In fact I have been a little surprised that they have stayed as clean as they have.

The fix is simple wax your rims with paste wax and give you car a freeking bath.. come on as much as your car cost use H2O on her...

Doh! you got me. I was paying so much attention to avoiding the livestock, I forgot about keeping away from the patties

I have no dust on my front or rear (09 w/ 19"). Could it be a parking brake issue?

My rears tend to get more brake dust than the fronts too. I usually wipe the wheels off a couple times a week though so no biggie. It is kind of odd though. Usually it's the other way around.
