Installed the driver mod and shot video from stands. First pass ever done with my G8. I know it can do better because shifting from 1st to 2nd hit and bounced the rev limiter. It looks and sounds good anyways going down the track!

Do you have a break down of the slip Nate?

No. Regular Drive mode.

Ah, I see. You need some TCM tweaks.

If I were you, I'd look into gears over a converter. 3.27's :)

probably not until i can get the cam and headers done or not don't really know for sure. Not really happy with the tune that I have or the 14+ times that I got on Friday night

Ah, I see. You need some TCM tweaks.

He'll be getting them next week. I've modified the trans tables quite extensivly and all shifts under any moderate to heavy throttle are firm and quick. Even with the trans tables modified correctly I've had to turn the 1-2 shift point down to 6200rpm just to get it to shift before the 6700rpm limiter and on occasion it will still hit the limiter. Many tuners will just turn the limiter up to fix this and that is not the right way to fix it. When the trans does make the shift without touching it will shift hard enough to break the tires loose. In manual shift mode if you command second at around 6k the shift occurs at around 6500-6600. Only first gear is the problem. When he comes back in next week I'll work on it until I get the firm shift I want it to have at around 6500-6600 without touching the limiter. It would be nice to have a good shift kit in there. The 6L80E is nice, but it's asking alot of any stock trans to be happy with 400RWHP and 6600rpm shift points.

If he gets back out with cooler air and a less busy track to allow for the engine to be cooler for making passes we'll get a 12 out of it for sure as it sits. The stock converter seems to stall to around 1400. His tires work great and don't spin at the track at all (on the street they spin easily). The trap speed certainly shows that he is making very good power for running on 91 octane in a DA of 2500 on 20's in full street trim.

It was a fun day and great to see you out there Nate. I hope it was as fun for you as it was for all of us.

Or both? Gears is what im thinking though....

I'll be getting gears as soon as GM starts stocking either the 3.27 for the GXP or the 3.45 for the Camaro.

I still think the converter would be a better first choice. You might not even want gears after the converter.

The converter will allow you to drive normally on the highway in 6th gear and still have reasonable fuel mileage. The gears will have your rpms higher all the time.

Let us know when they are in stock, I have a friend keeping an eye on them as well. Will the gears be a direct swap, or will additional parts be needed to work?

Was he running on your street tires? If so, why did he back into the water box?

Yes his street tires were on. I did that to put less stress on the car. I back into the water to make sure that there is no water on the fronts and then pulled out of the water onto the dry surface to do the burnout. If you do a burnout with street tires in the water they can spray water everywhere under the car. That doesn't mean you have have the tires a touch wet to make them spin up easier. I've been racing cars on street tires for about 16 years now and after trying all different methods that seems to have the best results without working the car hard. It worked, the car hooked fine and there was no water on it when I was done.
