I was asked to post some pix of the Pontiac mud flaps on the GXP.

I purchased them at the local dealer. Was told $43.00 for the set. What they meant was $43.00 for the front set and $43.00 for the back set. So I paid $92.00 tax and all. They all 4 came in the same box (which was post marked from down under)

The installation is real easy if you have a 90 degree drill. If you don't you better have a jack and take the wheel off. You only have to drip 1 hole for each mud flap and it is in the plastic not the metal (NOTE: drill from the inside of the wheel well. That is the drill bit should point away from the wheel). You will need a 8mm drill bit.

They mount using existing plastics rivets. They are supplied with new plastic rivets which are a little longer to compensate for the new thickness by adding the mud flaps.

The front flaps cover over the paint a little so I put black vinyl on the car with about .1" sticking out so if they do rub at least it will be on the vinyl not the paint. The back ones do not touch the paint so there was no need for the vinyl.

I think they give a more agressive appearance.

I think they look OK on a black car.

good lookin GXP man...i like the flaps...they would be even sweeter if they were painted black with a clear coat so it looks like an extension of the body...ya know what I mean? Rather than just a black plastic look. I am not sayin anything bad about them and how it looks, I am just looking at different ways for it to look better if it is even possible. One day....one day a GXP for me

Thanks for going to the trouble of posting this thread with all of the great pics! I was wondering about mud flaps as I will need them for sure. They look OK on your car, but would look bad (IMHO) on...let's say a silver of white car.

X,

Looks good man. I had flaps on a white charger, I loved the subtle look. Some do, some don't. Think they'll go with liquid red? I'm getting them free and put on by dealer on monday. Will post some pics soon. Thanks for the pics.

Man, that car just looks MEAN and evil from the back. Love it! The flaps help, since they cover the wheels. Otherwise, from the rear, the tires would kind of protrude past the rear trim-work.

DQGTO - I agree, if they were painted to match it would be best (I really like the Acura TL flaps that are painted to match). Problem is that the flaps are rubber so it wouldn't stick for long.

Eyemuffs - The mirrors have the black on them and the grills and diffusers are black so I think that they would look good.

That's exaclty what I was thinking, It'll compliment the diffuser and front lip perfectly.

Yeah they look good. I just got my guards put on my car, and it looks very nice, but would look amazing as a clear coated black finish.

I've got the same mud flaps. You have to be really careful going over speed bumps, because they will scrape on the top of the speed bump. My front ones are a little chewed up on the bottom because of this.

Yes, I was noticing this on install, but I'd rather have a chewed up bottom edge than damaged paint.

Yup, that's exactly why I got them too.

Never had any problems with the splash guards I had on my previous GXP, of course I drove it gingerly over speedbumps and over dips in the road. Never hit the splash guards on any speed bumps in the two months I had the GxP with splash guards, getting them put on my new GXP too.

Why do people post pics and them delete them from their photobucket?

I can confirm that the front ones do wear the paint in a couple spots that looks like hell when they are taken off. These were junk and a disappointment.

I have them on mine...and have noticed the fronts rub a bit. Too little too late, i probably won't take them off if they did scuff the surface.

I never drilled the holes for the rears, I like them a bit flexible when backing up if i tag a parking block they will flex.

Check out my profile for pics I have then installed under my winter tire pictures. I thought the all black needed something so I used modeling paint to color in the Pontiac Arrow. Looked OK for a while then it started to peel. I never thought about painting them to match the color of the car, might be something I do when I paint the front lower grill to match the car. Also thought about buying a small Pontiac Arrow head button and glueing this over the peeled paint for a better finish. If I didn't drive the car in the winter I might have not bought them at all, but want to protect the paint as much as possible even if it only helps a little.

I've driven through two winters with salt and sand and such. When I had the clear vinyl put on the car, I had them custom make some for the bit facing forward behind the front wheel. Not a mark to speak of on the rear bumper which surprises me.

IMO these would do nothing but drag in the snow for me. My car's slightly lower than stock and the bottom already drags in the snow.

I like them since it changes the appearance a little as well.

If you paint them make sure you add flex agent to the paint because they are a bit flexible. Otherwise the paint will crack easily [and it still may...]

The finish on these probably requires a little adhesion promoter before painting as well unless you sand them smooth...quite a pain and expensive because they are time consuming..
