I just wanted to give a review of the Sylvania Headlight Restoration kit. My wife drives a 2007 Pontiac G5 and her headlights were extremely yellowed and cloudy and she started complaining about not being able to see very well at night. I looked on the ole interwebs and found a ton of headlight restoration kits, the Sylvania kit seemed to get good reviews from all of the places I was looking so I decided to try it out. For $20, I figured it couldn't hurt and if it didn't work then I was only out $20 and some of my time.

After using the kit, all I can say is WOW!!! Her headlights look like they're brand new. I wish I had taken some before pics to show y'all how bad they were, but I wasn't really expecting the transformation that happened so I wasn't thinking ahead. Her headlights were about 90% cloudy and pretty yellow. To say the least, they were nasty. For the money invested and total time of about 1 hour for both headlights this was definitely worth the effort. If anyone is looking to try a headlight restoration kit and can't make up their mind about which one to try, I highly recommend the Sylvania kit. Only time will tell how well they hold up, but for now they look outstanding. Two thumbs up for you Sylvania.

The car itself could use a restoration kit of some sort. lol I wish the rest of her car looked as good as the headlights do now.

Just a little update.

My wife's Pontiac G5's headlights started to get cloudy again. It looks like I got about 1 & 1/2 years out of the first "restoration." I bought another Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit from Amazon for $16 and re-did her headlights. I used a little bit different technique this time. I wet sanded with 600, 1000, then finished with 2000. After that I used some turtle wax rubbing compound with my power cone on my cordless drill. Then I moved on to some turtle wax polishing compound on the power cone. Then finished them with the provided UV protectant/clear coat. I think they turned out better this time then the original restoration. The added steps of the rubbing compound and polishing compound really helped clear up the scratches from the sanding process. I'm going to put a coat or two of some chemical guys wax and sealant on them today to help protect them also. In the end the only part that I actually used from the kit was the UV protectant/clearcoat. Which is the last step and what really clarifies the lenses and makes them shine. Everything else I already had in my garage. Oh well!

The lights also didn't take nearly as long to restore this time. Originally I think I spent an hour per headlight. This time it was maybe half of that per headlight. Even if I only get another year our of this kit, I still think it's worth the time and money involved. Maybe next time I'll actually get a before shot.

A good clear coat makes a world of difference.
