I was wondering what are the sway bar options for the G8. I want at best the largest MM sway bars that are on the market. :poof:

Largest MM isn't always the best.

As of now, Pedders has sway bars and BMR is coming out with a set soon.

Pedders has a 26mm front, and a 20mm rear sway bar.

I have both in stock if you are interested.

The Pedders set does work well, especially with the adjustability. I set mine to the firmest, and love it.

Here is our swaybar stiffness.

Front
BMR is 52% stiffer than stock and hollow for weight savings

Rear
BMR is 55% stiffer than stock and hollow for weight savings

All in all the BMR G8 handles like a 4 door Vette!

The swaybars are due for release anytime now, just keep checking with us or on the website!

well hurry up and get these out...

If I am correct changing just the sway bars should lessen body roll without affecting the car when it is not turning.

This takes us back to suspension 101. Until the foundation of a vehicle is stable adding sway bars will only mask the foundational issues. Mustang owners have done this for years. They use telephone pole size bars to mask the real suspension issues. It is no different than putting lipstick on a pig.

The G8 has several foundational issues. The very first modification you should make is to install rear sub-frame inserts Pedders Part Number EP1169 (https://secure.merlinsoftware.com.au/peddersusa/Default.aspx?ProdCode=EP1169) The OE bushes are voided and allow the rear sub-frame to shift between the four rubber mounting points. These shift allow the rear end to steer where it wants to go and not where you want to take it. It is called rear-end step out. This is the single most important modification to make on any G8. It is the biggest bang for the buck and cost less than sway bars. Now if you already bought sway bars and didn't install EP1169 go back to Step #1 and address the weakest link in your suspension.

Next on the list would be the 4x4 height OE coils that are too light in rate. The modest drop of Pedders 2954 (https://secure.merlinsoftware.com.au/peddersusa/Default.aspx?ProdCode=2954) and 2955 (https://secure.merlinsoftware.com.au/peddersusa/Default.aspx?ProdCode=2955)coils takes the excess air out of the OE G8 suspension. This is a modest drop that preserves the excellent ride quality while lowering the CG. Why the G8 delivers with these 4x4 nose bleed coils I can't imagine, but the vehicle dropped just a bit brings your G8 closer to a BMW 5 series and combined with the EP1169 sub-frame connectors addresses two the G8's weakest links.

Next on the G8 weakest link hit parade would be the basic oil and air dampers. Once again I have to wonder why Pontiac elected to bring a Billion Dollar chassis into the USA with bargain basement oil and air strut with damping suited to -- were in polite company so we'll just leave it there. The new GXP comes to the USA with coil rate and damping almost as good  as Pedders GSR struts and SR coils while the G8 and G8 GT get the blue light specials???? A Pedders GSR Damper Package (https://secure.merlinsoftware.com.au/peddersusa/Default.aspx?ProdCode=G8DAMPERPKG)matched to the SR Coils with the EP1169 sub-frame connectors gets the G8 to a level that is absolutely on par with a BMW 5 series.

Finally we get to the fluid filled, hydraulically damped side loading radius rod bushes. The ZETA / VE chassis is absolutely class leading technology. The suspension geometry and suspension function are limited not by design or balance, but by some overly compliant and put politely cheap parts. The radius rod bush is not cheap, but it is overly compliant. Replacing it with Pedders Radius Rod Bush EP6560 (https://secure.merlinsoftware.com.au/peddersusa/Default.aspx?ProdCode=EP6560)removes that squishy sloppy action and delivers crisp precise response to your steering inputs. The steering wheel returns on center faster because the EP6560 ships with Castor Lock Washers to increase Castor. Your G8 is now not only on par with a BMW 5 series. it may be better.

With the economy putting pressure on everyone's budget the last thing you want to do is spend money on after market suspension parts that don't do what you want them to do. This is one reason Pedders has introduced G8 Suspension Packages. If you buy a Pedders G8 Package you are guaranteed to get a good result. Not only will your G8 drive like a BMW that cost twice as much, you will save money buy buying the Pedders bits as a package. Pedders G8 Touring Package (https://secure.merlinsoftware.com.au/peddersusa/Default.aspx?ProdCode=G8+TOURING+OE) will save you over $400! It includes Sub-Frame Bush Inserts, Pedders best in the industry Rubber 5851 Strut Mounts, 5030 Bearings. TTY Clevis Bolts, GSR Front and Rear Struts and Pedders SR 2954 and 2955 SR Coils. It does not include the Radius Rod Bushes.

We should have a G8 Touring Plus Package that includes radius Rod Bushes. Deb and Mike will get that in the system, but I'll do better than that. You can but a Pedders G8 Touring Plus Kit from your local Pedders Dealer right now. Tell them you saw Pete's post and the Price is $1,169.99.

And about those sway bars, most G8 owners will not need them. A G8 equipped with these Pedders bits will be more car than mot are capable of driving. Thank God that doesn't stop our customers from spending even more money. It doesn't stop me. My G8 is so much more car than I can drive, I am working on how to make it faster. ;)

So as we sit on the forum TommyZ is painting my headlight lens frosted and black edges body color along with the lower black plastic in the fascia and for good measure the OE chrome kidney grilles to make it look cleaner. If it looks cleaner it goes faster and handles better right? It must be true because I keep spending money on it!

And if you already bought sway bars and didn't install new coils, dampers, sub-frame inserts and radius rod bushes, to get the most out of your new sway bars you still need to buy and install new coils, dampers, sub-frame inserts and radius rod bushes. And if you already did install new coils, dampers, sub-frame inserts and radius rod bushes you don't need over-sized say bars.
