Alright guys got one for you. Half of my MAF wires leading to the harness have been cut from some how making contact with the accessory belt. Can I just cut out the damaged sections and replace them by splicing in new ones? Or would I be better off getting a whole new
Back story on my discovery.
For about 3 months I have been having some hesitating issues while accelerating only in 1-3 gear, car acts like it was getting fuel pulled so it was jerking, but wasn't happening all the time. I was initially thinking it was a tune issue, so I took my data logger out today for a run on the Nurburgring. It was doing it real bad on the track while I was logging it. After the first lap it stopped doing it almost all together. But at the end of the 2nd lap the ESP kicked off, and I got a check engine light. The codes it gave were, P0101, P0102, and P0112. I ended my day and drove it home. I pulled up the codes and they were MAF sensor performance, MAF sensor circuit low frequency, and Intake air temp sensor circuit low voltage. So I thought, that with all the codes point to a MAF issue to look at it. When I opened the hood, I could see the wires from the MAF almost sitting on the accessory belt. On further look I could see where half of the wires have been cut. I have rotated the MAF housing to get the wires up higher so they wont rub. Now my question is, should I just cut the bad wires and splice in new ones into it and then re-wrap the loom, or should I try to get a whole new wiring harness? I see the pic for a better description.

Yes, you can splice it together. Better if you use the same gauge wire and solder.

My neighbor had squirrels eat through his ecm wires in his Silverado. He spliced them with no problems.

Thanks Ray. I'll splice them back. You don't happen to know what gauge they are do you?

18 will work fine.

Ok so I cut out the bad wires and spliced them back together. I am now getting the following code, P0113 Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit High Voltage, with no check engine light. Also the ESP is disabled with the code, it was doing the same thing with the P0112 code before I fixed the wires. Any clues as to what is causing the high voltage?
