I got my Magnaflow AB and want to paint them like our shock mufflers are.

I have BBQ paint thats good up to 1500 degrees or should I use engine block paint good for 500d? Does it really matter or use should I go with something else?

Any suggestion would be great...Thx:)

that should work fine... im sure the exhaust paints are the same thing in a different can?? but make sure and prep them! Prep is 90% of the work and the final finish!

Yeah I got everything I need for the prep. Simple ? simple answer...figured I'd ask anyways. Thx

I used BBQ paint on the backs of the mufflers on my Grand Prix and it held up just fine.

"Should be an hour job tops".

Unless too much of the alcohol gets in the painter. :p

There are high-temp powder coats out there too. We do this for the local Harley Davidson dealership.

But any high-temp paint should be fine. The axle-back is hot to your hands, but so is 140*. You shouldn't need a crazy high temp paint. Brillo pad, denatured alcohol, and spray it.

I have a burn mark on my leg from my SF Magnaflow axleback tip... Sticks out on side enough to touch you when you load/unload trunk from side. Definitely alot higher than 140 deg!

We used VHT Flame Proof header paint on Ray's flowmaster's. It's a silica ceramic paint. Over kill, but not much more money than similar paint.
