I just got my GT and before I picked it up it was serviced
Oil, spark plugs, trans flush etc
This morning my engine started knocking, check the oil and it was registering on the very bottom
Of the dip stick!
It took exactly 2 quarts. Any ideas?...
I can only think of two things, My friends Silverado had the DOD and was eating oil so maybe something that has to do with that or....
I think the dealer put 6 quarts in the rhino 😁

My guess is that the dealer royally screwed up and under filled it. Not liking the part about you hearing the engine knocking. That can't be good...

Do you think it will be ok?!... After I added the 2 quarts it sounds good. I don't drive my car very hard to start with but I just want/need this thing to last a while...

How long did it run while knocking?

It shouldn't be knocking only 2 qts low.

was it knocking or was it that valve train tap? I bet it was the valve train tap, because mine does that occasionally on cold startups - and evens out in a minute or 2.
actual knocking - shouldn't be related.
I suspect their new guy just did what he thought was standard - because every other oil change he did on a v8 took 6 quarts - and just used that.

That's my hope and 90% guess that the tech under filled it... and I think it was valve noise.
I'm just being overly cautious I guess.
From everything I read it should be a pretty reliable car.

yeah $100 oil change will be rough...

I had the opposite on my first G8 oil change. The dealer royally screwed up and over filled me by 1-1/2 quarts. The clouds of blue smoke were epic.

Oil change with filter in the 6.0 is 9 quarts, the dealer if they are the typical dumb ass will fill per the V6 or just the standard V8.
I always tell the oil change place it takes 9 quarts!

The instant oil change place I go for NY state inspections (only), brings the dip stick and shows each customer that the proper fill was done. Maybe this was after a big lawsuit and now required in NYS?
