Howdy guys/gals.

I'm having an issue with installing the transmission tube. It routes up fine and easy, but the dipstick will not fully seat (6 inches out) into the tube with any kind of bend towards the installed tube end. I have indexed the tube every which way without any extreme bends, but the dipstick is not clearing a "step up" from the inside of the transmission tube to the lip of the transmission tube fitting... Make any sense?

I'm starting to think that I have a defective tube since I cant find anything stating that annyone else has had issues. The tube was bought from Pace. I called Lokar but they aren't open on the weekend.

Any ideas?

Exactly why I ditched the install of mine a couple years back. I could never get it to seat flatly and properly no matter what I tried. I gave the dipstick to a friend here on the forum and told him he will need to come up with some bracket or way to mount that will hold the bottom straight, flat and securely.

Called Lokar tech support. Steve told me to send it in and they will get it turned around for me pretty quick. We'll see what happens.

I'm thinking it would probably snap the tip in half. If it didn't, that would more than double the width if the tip making it a tighter fit in the tube causing more issues? I was thinking that casting marks on the dipstick end may have been causing an issue so I sanded all that down as well without any luck. I recommended that they bevel the lip to prevent it from catching. They should get it by Thursday. We'll see.

Just installed my tube this evening. I got it back from Lokar last Wednesday. I told Steve my issue and he ended up beveling the tube end fitting. Works fine now no more catching! :brock: I also found out that my tranny fluid is a little on the low side... I will hopefully fix that issue over the weekend with the camaro pan/filter install.
