Someone please explain why this is happening. So I bought a full key fob replacement (china one). I transferred everything from the old one to the new one. Key blade, electronics, and battery. The remote works perfectly. Unlocks, locks, remote starts, opens the trunk. No issues there. Until I go to start the car I get slammed with the engine immobilizer. My spare key works perfectly fine still.
I've tried doing the key learn process: Use a working key, turn on engine. Turn off engine and remove key. Insert key to be programmed within 5 seconds and turn to ON position. Then turn off and the key is supposed to be programmed, but no dice still.
Anyone know why this would be giving me a problem. It's all the exact same hardware. The only thing from china is the plastic casing and the rubber that the electronics sit in??
Edit: this is the piece I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Panic-5-Buttons-Remote-Key-Fob-Case-Shell-Key-Blank-For-Pontiac-G8-/251988092428?fits=Make%3APontiac%7CModel%3AG8&hash=item3aaba9260c&vxp=mtr
