My front drive side brakes started to grind some this week so after only 25K miles it's time to replace the stock front pads. Anyone have and recommendations? Other then the life span I have been happy with the stock pads. They have been quite and dust free so any replacement must do the same.

Your OEM pads have been dust free? That's not my experience, but if that is the case then just replace with OEM...

for DD use and for the price - I've had great luck with the wagner thermo-quiet pads from Oreily - their store brand is the same pad if you want to save a few dollars.
at one time - these were a good bit cheaper than Hawk pads. but that varies all the time so shop around.
Another good choice used to be performance friction pads but I've not used a set in years. stay way from EBC pads

Have a pair of hawks fronts pads if you are interested switching over to ctsv so won't need them

I went from stock pads to Carbotech 1521 series pads and that made a world of a difference. They dust slightly more than the OEM pads but even after 2 weeks of driving it's not super hateful. You can order them direct from Carbotech and they even offer a bedding in process so the pads are broken in and ready to use right out of the box so you don't have to drive around and do your own bedding process.

The bite of the oem pads is not up to par for the G8 so I'm gonna order the Carbotech 1521s also. So buy them direct from Carbotech? Anywhere else cheaper?

you can buy direct from carbotech - I used to track with those pads if I ever get the G8 track ready - those are on my list.
but I feel 120+ dollar pads per axle is too spendy for DD use
the 1521's are awesome though - DO not get the higher performance pads for DD use - they need more heat in them to respond well, IMO

I bought mine thru brakeswap.com but that's because I was going to be at the same Auto X event they were at so I figured I would save on shipping that way. My next set will be purchased direct from Carbotech if I'm not at the same event as their dealer was.

No bout about the quality and performance of carbontech. The wagner thermo-quiet pads are good as well.
