Hi All,

So I am new to this site. I have had my G8 since 2009 and still LOVE IT! A guy actually offered me (jokingly of course) $100,000.00 if I sell it to him. I am however, starting to have some strange problems with the car. I was wondering if there is any advise.

1. My driver's side window button is loose and sometime comes off completely. I am able to put it back together but it is kinda tricky. Sometimes, when the window is down and both of my hands are on the wheel, the window will roll up on it's own. These leaves me with two thoughts. Either some one else is in the car with me that I can't see (lol) or there is a problem with the motor and switch.

2. My second issue is that I seem to have blown my center dash board speaker. Any ideas what might be the best brand to replace it with?

3. Can a back up camera be installed in any way? That is the only feature on new cars that i wish I had.

Any help would be extremely helpful. I just had a major maintenance service on the car so (knocking on wood) mechanically, the car is working well and still as beautiful as the day I bought it.

Thanks all,
Jenniffer74

The switch is very easy to replace, it basically pulls out of the bezel and is plug and play. I would replace the assembly. Part isn't that expensive. Crazy Paul is your friend (or if you can get it cheaper stateside he'll flat out tell you).

You can go with 3" or in some cases a 4". I have a Morel speaker there - lots of opinions on what to put in. The speakers are the weakest link of the stereo. Depending on your budget just replacing them all will be a major improvement. Also do a search for the "bass bias mod" as they will help - A LOT - if it hasn't been done yet.

3. Can a back up camera be installed in any way? That is the only feature on new cars that i wish I had.

Yes. You will need to have your head unit updated to support VIM (vehicle in motion). Do a search for VIM and you'll find tons of threads. You'll need to get the connection for the rear aux input on your stereo, and the backup sensor. All of this is plug and play. All that is left is routing the wiring to a backup camera. I seem to remember that the chrome trunk spear (Crazy Paul is your friend again) has a location where you can mount a backup camera. I would have to go look on my car.

In addition, Crazy Paul can sell you a rear ultrasonic sensor kit. You would have to get a color matched kit (Paul sells you cannot paint the sensors). They are plug and play electrically, but require four holes to be drilled in the rear bumper cover. I would strongly, STRONGLY recommend professional installation.

Any help would be extremely helpful. I just had a major maintenance service on the car so (knocking on wood) mechanically, the car is working well and still as beautiful as the day I bought it.

Thanks all,

I have a center speaker removed from my car. If I find it, it's yours.

Another option to consider is pick up a GM mirror with the LCD in it and combine with a really slim plate frame camera.

Don't most people disconnect and delete the front centre speaker anyway?
