Has anyone got the key fob recall done yet? I got my letters from GM for both my g8s but I am hesitant to give up my original key fobs since I don't rub my knees on the operation of the mechanism while in run. Tried to purposely knock them out of run with my knee with no luck to test their recall. Even put my wife's pretty danglie things on it and still could not purposely knock it out of run without using my hand and wrist to turn off. Anyone else test the recall statics? Maybe I'm not holding my mouth just right to get GM s results?

I agree with you ..I refuse to give up my key fob plus Im not having the issue because I know how to drive a car normally and not have my knees up to my keys or put 20lbs on a key chain.

I refused to give up mine too. I like the flip key. I also bought two new genuine Pontiac flip keys last year and already got them cut. I can't just throw them away.
No way getting up my folding key. In outside sales and in and out of car all day.

I bought replacement flippers in 2009 or 2010 for spares. I have a broken flipper, so i may just do it :p

Not doing it. I can't see how anyone can get their knee up there in a natural driving position. Must be one of those people that likes to put their feet up on the dash when driving.

That is what I thought that we would loose our switch blade key and pontiac emblem. I will verify this weekend when I go in the local dealership who services our area. Pretty sure that unless you try and drive with your knees in the steering column there's no issue with the original oem key.

And when I was younger I leared to drive trucks and basic cars with no power steering and manual brakes without the vacuum boost assist. Also used to turn the key off on a manual transmission gto and let the exhaust build up un burnt gas and then turn the key back on. Glass packs would blow apart, but thrush would hold together on a dual exhaust system. Talk about a attention getter when a kid. Can't leave the ignition off too long though,
It will split the whole exhaust system. But boy was it fun:)

I'm not giving mine up...having a separate FOB isn't a choice I'd ever willingly make.

I was still able to order a flip key as ours was busted, and waited for recall, once I saw it wasn't a flip I ordered a replacement flip so all is fixed now, but with old style flip key

Not doing mine - next to impossible to bump the key - the mere suggestion is due to GM lawyers being overly cautious after the debacle with the Delta I vehicles.

Have my car at the dealer right now. I only had my flip key with me and asked if they would be taking it. They said no not if I refused the recall which I did. They said customers have started yelling at them over the keys.... Oddly enough they gave me a 2015 Malibu that has a flip key and that one I could probably has to with my knee if I tried unlike the 8 which would be impossible.
