Not sure if this is a motor question or not. I have a white stain on the underside of my hood on the insulator. It is right above the motor on the side of the ABS main block. It washed off the first time but now it's back. Sure has me stumped. Anybody have any ideas before I take it to the dealership?

It comes from "enjoying" your car too much.

Bill Clinton been near your car?

I haven't noticed anything, but I don't look very hard either. I'll check next time I'm under there.

Have you ever used a cleaner or anything like simple green when you clean under the hood? From experience the resudue from the cleaning agents can get cought in the fibers of the hood liner. Some how all the stuff never seems to get rinsed out. Heat from engine makes the residue dry into a white stain. Just one possiblity of course.

Mine has this a little around the openings, I'm guessing it's salt grime from the road.

Only way to avoid is not drive her in the rain, or bad conditions.

Any harm removing the liner? Sure looks better IMO

I had a beater field car that the engine started on fire because of a cracked fuel line and when that blanket dropped onto the engine (tabs melted) it put the fire out.

I have the same staining on mine. No salt exposure here. This didn't show up till we started to get rain here (over the last few months). I suspect it's some leaching of the bonding agent for the fiberglass pad. Shure detracts from an otherwise clean engine bay.

It's probably salt or residual chemicals in the fabric from manufacturing.

I found that if you dont do this :jerkoff: while the hood is open it cuts down on stains in general. LMAO!
