Hey guys hoping someone can give me some insight. Every time a car drives by me it sounds like my window is open a crack. Is that how thin these doors are?
I made adjustments to the striker. I did not want to pull it in too much and having the body lines lining up improperly.
Window looks like its closed and against the rubber weather trim fine.
Do you think it can be the seal? ..My G8 is always garaged and I always put some VRT on it at every wash to prevent the weather stripping from drying out.
At my wits end.
Thanks!
Mark

I know exactly what you mean when I drive my other car I don't hear any noise but when I drive g8 wind noise is excessive and when the car passes by it sounds like the door is not shut all the way or window is cracked open. There is a bulletin on the side mirror so that's why I figured I would try to seal it better

Same issue. I also seem to have some wind noise on the passenger side but it sounds like it is coming from the rear. Maybe I'll have to have to sit in the passenger seat someday as someone else drives to pinpoint it better.
Let us know if you find anything. It really makes it sound cheap when you can hear so much wind noise.

So far I tried several things and nothing.
The glass is fine ..goes all the way up and is against the weather stripping.
The striker was adjusted all the way it can
Mirror.. I cannot figure it out. Took it off put it back on seems fine.
The latch is working fine.
Now I might check the back door drivers side for shits and giggles. At this point I might as well go all around the car.
My wife drove it and even said this would drive me nuts!

I usually don't ..she only driven it 2-3 times in 5 years. LOL! But I wanted to see if it was just me she noticed right away.
I might just bring her to the dealership to hear them say ..We cannot find a problem ..that's normal.

yea they will say normal operation so your problem just started or you had this for a while ? have you had any body work done to the car ?

what's the side mirror thing - is it missing a gasket or something - I could see that being an issue.
I notice that the rubber seals at the top corner of the door -where it meets the top corner of the rear LH door seem to have a gap there
any of you have that.
my one complaint about the car is the excessive wind noise - at speed

Napalm.. I noticed that gap myself. Not huge but its there.
As for the mirror .. Im not too sure. I was looking for anything that might stick out. It did not have any gasket so I wonder if I put some weather stripping inside around it and re-install the mirror if that would do the trick.

I wonder if it's the weight savings/cost savings gremlin. at least that's what I keep chalking it up to.

I have that same small gap, I first noticed that the ac vent area on the door doesn't quite line up to the dash, the passenger side lines up fine, and the noise...it drives me nuts. One day I started looking and noticed the actual door seems off. The stripping is fine, the door latches fine, but there is a gap up top. That small gap is creating the noise, and not aligning with the dash.

Now I need to look to see if I have that same issue, I never noticed the alignment of the door/vents being off so maybe I just never gave it a good look.
Something to look into ..Thanks!

I checked mine and my dash is not aligned properly with the door panel its slightly lower. So are you saying the door needs to come up little ?

I'm not sure I haven't had a chance to address it. I'll snap pics soon

I looked at both sides of the car and the gap between the door and the chrome molding is exactly the same so I think the alignment of the door panel and the ash has nothing to di with the wind noise

I agree ..looks exactly the same on both sides.
Shit! Maybe some gap foam...;)

my gaps are NOT equal on the outside from the trim to the stripping, and the dash line up is off by about the same amount, causing me to assume they are related...seeing as the passenger lines up correctly, and has no trim gap up on the top of the door and has no wind noise, and neither of the rears have any issues.
I'm not saying that's the culprit, just a very good educated guess. I'll go snap pics

the panel, and the top of the door are off about an equal amount, wouldn't you agree? Once again, I am not certain they correlate.

Yikes! Mine is off but not by much and looking at your driver side ..It looks like a prostitute after a gang bang with that gap or is that just me? Is it off more than a 1/4?

Top pic looks worse than what it is with the shadow, but yeah, about 1/4 inch maybe. Didn't actually measure it

Ahh! Thats good because I was like holy crap!
Mine is very similar on one side. A bit tighter. I will snap a couple pics
But I seen a couple really off ..almost stick your finger in between.
Thanks for your efforts and providing pics!

No worries, that's what the forum is for. I'm wondering if some adjustments can help or maybe new hinges pins?

Mine is the same way. It has been that way since day one. Some cars are just sealed up better than others.

damn now I'm going to measure some gaps - curious.
Still say the gap in the door trim at the back of my DR door is the real issue.
OH and my window trims sucks too - and I've kepts some stuff on it since I bought the car. previous owner might not have though.

the best way to eliminate the issue is tape the door gaps out with masking tape and see if the noise goes a way. and then start removing peace by peace
