I'm going to replace my oil pump while I am in doing a cam swap but I'm not convinced which pump I should use. The stock replacement would be the 10355 but since I'm getting rid of the DOD hardware I don't think that much flow is necessary any more so I'm thinking the 10296 would be a more appropriate pump for this application. Thoughts?

I have the 10355 ("extra" hi volume @ 1.24in^3/rev) with the hi pressure spring. I have all DoD stuff removed along with the bypass in the pan plugged off. It idles warm between 35-40 psi and will generate 75psi at 7000rpm. Is it too much pump? Probably. I would swap it out for the 10296 (hi volume @ .9*in^3/rev) in a road racing application where the engine operates longer at higher RPM. Even if there is 8+ quarts of oil on tap, if it can pump it faster than it can return to the pan, there is going to be an issue with maintaining pressure.

Mine has the Melling high volume pump with Rick C's tricks done to it. It seems to be working well, but I really need to invest in a oil cooler. My temps get up there on the highway.

Went with the 10296, I'll take it apart and clean up the inlet and outlet ports when I get it.
