So i was wondering if it is possible to make the g8 a push button start. By using system out of a chevy ss. Im not sure if anyone has done it yet. But if possible wondering what would need and cost. So could be way off but figure the button, wire harness, alarm and key.

Does the SS have a place to put a key? I think those push button cars have a special key that lets the car know to start. So the G8 would have to get a new key. It would be nice to have that but wondering if the price is too high.

I thought their key was like the charger and altima were it's proximity so can say in you pocket. But if took the whole system out of the ss then no reprogram

Push button start is cool, but you still need to unlock the steering wheel with the key.

Nope. No key slot.


Push button start is cool, but you still need to unlock the steering wheel with the key.

I'm sure something can be done. I purchased a keyless system for bike. I still have the key and use it to lock and lock the forks. But, basically the alarm senses the key fob, I pull in the clutch and thumb the starter. In a car, you would need the button.

the phantom system looks nice.
would getting steering column from ss then by pass the need for key in g8 to unlock the steering wheel
. I know it would not be a cheap mod especially since its just for convince.

I emailed them lets see what comes of it. But looks promising. looks like 350-500 with also ability to use smart phone .

My Viper truck had to push start just like the Viper but I still had a put a key in and turn it then push the button kind of defeated the purpose but it was still cool to push a button to start the truck
