Last night I was struggling mightily to get this piece in. I could get the passenger side to line up, but then the drivers side would not. If I got the drivers side where it belonged the passenger side would not line up. The top strap just seemed too short (see pic below). After running out of cuss words I did the nuclear option and cut that strap. After that the piece magically fell into place where everything lined up nice. Is this a common occurrence or was I doing something wrong? After everything is tightened down I do not think having this strap cut will matter. There ended up being a 2 to 3 mm gap after the cut. I will likely cut more of the strap so that the ends don't become rattle sources since there is nothing connecting them now. Sorry for the dark picture.

I didn't have to cut that strap during install, mine got bound up more on the center two flaps in your first picture. Once those fit, the top strap dropped into place.
Will check to see if there are any pictures of this from the install when I get home tonight.

Never had that issue when I had my GPS trim with the Calais center stack. Maybe it was slightly bent?

I must have gotten lucky... Mine went together like it was that way from the beginning. I cut NOTHING.

I've never heard of anyone having that issue before.

No luck on having a picture of the curved trim and silver cube.

I will get a picture next time it's apart for reference though.

Everything lines up now, no worse for the cut. Not sure why, but whatever works.

must be solar flares, or perhaps the supermoon.

I've never heard of anyone having that issue before.
