View Full Version : I beat a GTO?...WTF is wrong here?

Went to Panola College in Carthage, TX to see my daughter participate in the homecoming thing...she didn't win...but I did. She dates their shortstop and he wanted a ride in the G8. So we're going by his dorm and he points out a "bad" GTO another guy on his team drives. I tell him to call him up and let's go run'em. Heck, I thought I was going to get beat, but I wanted to race somebody, been awhile, was getting the racing jones. He's in the car and following me before Ryan can hang up! He's stock, manual, w/ longtube headers and an exhaust system...it sounded like one bad MF. Anyway, we get outside the loop on some real good concrete, stop them in the middle of the road and count down. I pull him so far off the line that I can see him in my rearview mirror and I'm wondering, "What's wrong with this picture"? The passenger window is down and I can hear his car back there over my own, wailing like a short-stroked 302...stock my ass...I only hope mine sounds like that one day! I'm stock, 3/4 tank gas and I'm leaving him...but that didn't last long. Then he starts to gain on me. Ryan sitting next to me, having ridden in the goat and knowing how bad it is later tells me that at this point he can't believe how quick my big 4-door G8 is and is amazed that we pulled him that far. We're catching traffic ahead that will make us shut down, I'm going through 90 but still in it when his hood is outside my passenger window, he's hooked up good now and screaming and then he misses a shift...I pull him more, he shuts off due to traffic. He says he can't get off the line and won't run me again from a dead stop. My daughter tells me that Ryan the shortstop told the rest of the baseball team that Megan's dad, an old fat balding f***k*r in a four-door came on campus, threw down the challenge and then strapped it on his ass and he's being rode pretty hard for the loss. That's his only loss this season..they are undefeated and ranked second in the nation in juco batting.
I need yall's opinion...can I count this as a kill or not?

It was probably an 04. Those are LS1's and are a little underpowered. None the less good kill!

Your words have delivered me! Tomorrow I shall hold my head high...and the young one's shall speak of me and my kill in hushed tones next time they see me drive upon their campus. As for the rest...I shall drive them as the dust before the wind.

They will sing songs of your righteous kill, around fires, while they roast meat and do other manly things!

Yes, the old grey one, the one once thought past his prime, the one whose wife used to say of him, "Grey one, you are short, ugly, and you have a small p*nis" (well, actually, she still does), yes, that one...even now they are telling stories of him around the bong in the dormroom, er uhh, I mean the peacepipe around the lodge fire, as they knap their spearpoints, as they dry their fish, as they jerk their meat, their deer meat they jerk I mean. Him, yes, HIM! They sing and dance, and compose songs bespeaking his kill to be passed from one generation to the next in their manner of history. They hold their old (at least the ones who are quick on the accelerator) in honor. His lodgepole seemingly stands straighter, now and into the future, possibly without Viagra. Am I full of shit or what!

We gave Village Mills, TX the name Snuff Gully, the town Lil' Abner lived in the newspaper comic strip...or was it the Snuffy Smith comic strip. We are 45 miles north of Beaumont on Hwy 69 going towards Woodville and Lufkin right in the middle of the Big Thicket. Beaumont, Lumberton, Kountze, then Village Mills. I kid alot about everything being backward around here, 'cause alot of it still is, but our's is truly an idealic existence. Village Mills is made up mostly of Wildwood, a gated community of 2200 acres. This place is like the Woodlands, only better. I have commercial insurance business I've written all over Harris, Fort Bend and Brazoria counties. I shut down two of my offices in SW Houston and moved the whole operation up here...I get over your way all the time. With the G8, I get over your way a lot quicker now!

I am horrible with directions, but thats 1-10 past Baytown about an hour?

TonyKarter
02-24-2009, 10:16 PM
Yeah, Beaumont is exactly one hour east of Baytown on I-10. Then turn north in Beaumont on US Hwy 69, forty minutes to Snuff Gully. I take a different route, come through the woods, make it to Baytown (or the drag strip) in one hour. I've done it so many times the car knows the way...I curl up in the backseat and take a nap until it gets there.

Hey Tony, I live in Baytown. How often do you head this way? And what color is your car?

TonyKarter
02-24-2009, 10:41 PM
I'm through there two or three times a month. You know, it's funny, even in the Baytown/Houston area I don't remember seeing any G8's. I'm usually watching the crazies over there though, not looking for friendlies. We don't have the traffic you do. In Snuff Gully, if you pull out to the highway and there is a car coming in either direction, that is justifiable grounds for road rage. They won't even write you up.
Mine is metallic gray. You'll know me as the only thing I have modded so far is that I've added the headlamp protectors. What part of Baytown do you frequent? Isn't it neat to own something that is still relatively rare?

I'll do that. Do the same for me if the G8 guys head out that way. I'll need to watch and listen to get up on the curve. I'm gonna need some help getting back into the drag thing. Been roadracing shifterkarts for the last ten years, no drag experience since the 70's!

win is a win even if he missed a gear,or poor traction, hell if a scooter pulls up at the light it is on. I stopped and talked to a guy today that has an eclipse with bla bla turbo and bla bla pistons and all that crap, this was after a brief spanking from the G it told him that i thought my car was quick but i havent raced any fast cars yet. he just smiled.
