Hi all
The Rat is due for new front struts and rear shocks, what is the best most economical solution for my car? Should I go with the GXP FE3 set up? Does that come with new top bushings or do I need to get those separate?
Or is there a better set up? I'd like to have it sit a little lower than the stock 4 off road set up:shutup:. Lol

The Fe3 are the least expensive upgrade out there (~$375). The top bushings are separate. Since you want to lower the G8 then add in springs. But then I understand that the life of the Fe3s may be compromised with lowering springs. In which case you might consider Konis with the lowering springs but at $200-300 more than the Fe3s.

I just received my FE3 from Pace. Looked at Konis but too much hassle right now to cut open the struts right now. Maybe next time when she's got over 100k and a garage queen. I'm only at 50k but the cars be diving and crashing over all road cracks, also my stock mount is done. FE3 should be fine for minim drop springs Teins or Eibachs, but probably not recommended for H&R springs or anything beyond 1".
I also want to go a little lower, probably going to go with Teins with my poly mounts. Otherwise look at King or Lovell oem height springs (380/395mm) both good products, but they're twice as much as the Teins.

fe3 and a lowering spring with new mounts will do wonders. I would personally stay away from the typical h&r or eibachs. Pick the height you want and get a set of lovells or kings.

I guess I need help to where to get everything needed. I don't drive the car much so the fe3's sound good and some springs to lower her some.

I did the FE3 with a stock height Pedders HD spring in the rear that lowered the back about .5" If you want it to sit lower than stock, you will need to address the springs as the FE3 will make your car look higher in the front due to sitting .375" higher than FE2, as well as, the amount of collapse your factory front strut bushings might have right now. With FE3 and Poly strut bushings, my front looks a little jacked up but it doesn't bother me.

When I had mine, it rode on the Pedders Street II and OEM Springs.... If you go with the FE3 keep your OEM Springs. See how you like it.... On the current CTS, I will probably go with Coil Overs. On yours consider the BMR Chassis Braces and Tunnel Brace, also the BMR strut tower brace and other suspension parts.....

The Koni Adjustable Sport "Yellows" are a great option, and will withstand the rigors of lowering springs much better than the OEM style struts/shocks. Unfortunately, they are really hard to find right now. We are out-of-stock on them, and we were told it may be late July or early August before we have them again. If you're not in a hurry for them, you could still order them now to take advantage of the current 25% off sale, and they would ship as soon as they become available. Hopefully sooner than what Koni has told us.

So what is the solution? My front bushings are collapsed at 35k miles and its time to fix the issue!

Would or could this be balanced by the weight of my 2300 up front?

The best solution would be SuperPro SPF-1590K Front Upper Strut Mount Bushings. High grade / Low Deflection Polyurethane with a LIFETIME Warranty!!! We have plenty in stock. And don't forget the Upper Strut Mount Bearings too (BK025), we have those too!
