Transmission filter change??

Well while I was deployed my wife racked up a few more miles then I thought she would and now I'm on 75k. So I'm trying to see what you guys think about changing the trans filter and fluid or just the fluid. Thanks for any response

Just did it today and used 8 after seeing estimates of 7 1/2. I think 7 may get the job done. A lot came out when I checked the level.

thanks, also what's the torque on the bolts and how much lower does it sit? any tricks you learned while installing to make install easier?

Torque is 9 Nm. Torque sequence is available in a sticky in drivetrain section. The hugest drain pan you can find is useful. Even after draining there is a lot of fluid still in the pan. I had a standard round one and made a mess. I used plastic tubing strung down from the engine bay to fill. The size I had was perfect. It fit snugly in the fill hole and I could get a small funnel in the other end. Don't forget to clean off and transfer the magnet to the new pan. Start the tranny 3 sec movements just before it gets up to the minimum temp. By the time I was done with that and the minute idle it was right at the max temp

OK so I bought the transmission kit that LDM recommended, which is this (http://paceperformance.com/i-8434163-gmp-24250062-camaro-transmission-pan-kit-with-wide-mouth-filter-6l80.html) So now I'm just curios as to how many quarts this deal takes now. Thanks for the help and advice guys.

8 as stated above! I ordered the Dex from Pace with the pan and filter. (2) 1 gallon containers. I bought a pump to mount on the containers so I can pump the fluid into the fill hole.

Anyone thought of adding oil to the pan and then installing it? I would think with another set of hands this would be doable. Maybe not.

make it easy on yourself and order a lokar dipstick from Greg (XTD-36l80FM36). Post 1 in this thread (http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=35862) has a image of it being filled, worked great.
