Saw this in GM Hi-Tech mage but can't find any details. Apparently not released yet...

I was day-dreaming about one of these yesterday.

lol

It would help with staging.

It's A G8!

So with this you can stage, step on the gas pedal all the way and then, how would it activate or launch?

Simplified explanation:

You set your rpm at say 2500. Then when you activate the 2Step, foot on brake and floor the gas, the car will rev to 2500 and skip cylinders.

Then when you let off the brake, the cylinder firing goes back to normal and you will launch at 2500.

so whats the point? you can stall higher? seams to me it would cause serious traction problems unless running slick?

The biggest thing, for me, is that it will be easier to stage the car. You set your launch rpm and forget it. Put your foot to the floor. No watching the tach.

Exactly. Had it my Mach. Set it and forget it. When you master making it hook, up the RPM you leave at.

cool! now if you had it with a trans brake you would be money!

Leave TC on step on brake and throttle to the floor it won't rev higher than 1500 RPM's and tires don't spin don't know if it helps when launching or not give it a try. You might even be able to have your tuner change the rev settings?? I don't know to much about tuning the ECM what is or isn't possible but I'm sure someone out there knows for sure what can and can't be done.

Traction Control is not the same.

TC will use the brakes to stop tire spin. TC will slow you down.

so basically once you find the sweet spot you'l have more consistent launches, because you can set it at your desired rpm level...right?

The page says it works for G8s but not sure how it would be activated. Separate switch I guess?

You'd have a "main" power switch to turn it on.

See where it says:

"If you are triggering off of the clutch switch, the 2-Step will trigger each time you depress the clutch pedal. This can be used to provide an ignition cut/torque cut on each gear change to potentially allow for faster shifts/faster clutch engagement."

Change that to "brake light switch". The 2 step will come on when you, A turn on it's power, and B press the brake pedal.

You would flip the power on after the burn out and turn it off after the 1/4 mile run.

That makes sense. Thanks!

Anyone using the Lingenfelter 2-Step Adjustable Launch Control linked here?

Yep I run one of these. It is triggered off the rear brake light wiring that runs down the side rail inside the car. Had to pick up the power source here as it is in normal voltage. Only issues we have found is it is very slow to trigger and the engine loads up too much in fuel when activated. We currently leave one whole amber earlier if using the two step.

Mine works great, triggers off the transbrake.

Still using the 6L80 so unfortunately no transbrake option :(

Question how are you removing the excess fuel to stop loading up the engine when the 2-step is activated ??

Doesn't seem to be a problem. Car launches nicely.
