View Full Version : Dash Command and PIDs?

So on a whim I picked up Dash Command and a cheap bluetooth OBD thing off fleabay. I haven't had much time to mess around with it but it's great so far. My thinking was I'd spend $20 total and get a car mount to see if I'd really use the gauges I've been thinking of putting in that would run hundreds of dollars.
It's awesome being able to set up a gauge for pretty much anything you want... overwhelming really. I don't know what half of the PID things are for and it's a little cold to drive around and fiddle with settings. One thing I'm having trouble finding is Trans Temp. Anyone have an idea where it is?
Thankfully I've got a Note 3 so I can fit more gauges on the screen and still read them. Even with that the "medium" is pretty tiny... maybe I should get a mount for my tablet? :)

I haven't used Dash Command, but Torque works quite well and has the transmission temperature PID available. It also has an add-on called Torque Scan that populates all of the supported PIDs to help with selecting the supported ones. However, if Dash Command is anything like torque for refresh rate, you'll find that a tablet screen full of gauges won't update very often with the Bluetooth interface, so things like fuel trims and KR cannot be monitored effectively. A smaller screen with fewer gauges is fine in that scenario, which is what I use for watching our traverse while towing.

Well if Torque has it I can't imagine Dash Command doesn't have it... Maybe Nate will see the thread and point me in the right direction. ;)

Did you purchase the GM enhanced pids for GM 2009? If so, you will then be able to display trans temp and other enhanced pids. That's the first step....

I bought the enhanced PIDs, what section is trans temp? Not temp nor trans?
Are you likely to update the dashboard to put some of the groovy new stuff in?

While connected to your obd2 device make sure you re validate the PIDS and then look in the data grid. You can tell it which pids to monitor. Choose the GM ones and you should be able to see the data in real time there fist. I updated my personal skin using DashXL. I think you can also go into the new gauges section and create your own using the specific gm pids you want to monitor.

Thanks for that, happy to pay you $50 for your updated skin with GM bits and reckon I could persuade a few other Aussies too!

Any response on purchasing the VegasNate skin?
The pid is GM.TRANS.TFT
There's a pretty handy search bar at the pid list screen.
