I swapped steering wheels today. All went well but after finishing I backed out of garage and turned the wheel. Stability Control OFF light came on and will not reset. No ABS lights or DTC. Anybody run into this before?

Not on the G8 but a Nissan truck when I changed the battery. The stability control system has a steering wheel angle sensor in it which had to be re-zeroed by driving the truck straight for 70 ft. Someone here probably has the procedure for the G8.

The G8 requires a steering angle sensor calibration with a Tech II or Snap-on. I've just never heard of anybody needing this after just swapping steering wheels.

Presuming that you have a keyed setup, there should be only one position for the wheel. However, if the clockspring has rotated a full turn one way or another while the wheel was off, it will screw up the wheel position sensing and disable the stability control. The only way to know for sure where it should be is to have it checked with a Tech II, or you could do trial and error to see if you can get it rotated back to the original position.

All fixed thanks to a Tech2 recalibration of the steering angle.
There's a good write-up on Carmodder which explains how to prevent the issue.
It's not easy writing Instructions that cover every eventuality....GM certainly haven't got it correct, my Instructions aren't perfect, the Carmodder website is on Revision 16 of their Instructions.

I think what happened to me is that with the wheel off, the clock spring moved but I got it back to the center location. The G8 shop manual tells you how to center it. You would have to be off 1 full turn to either side to be off-center. Had this been all I did I would, I think, been OK. However, I was concerned about all the key-in-ignition warnings that after getting the wheel off, I connected the battery just long enough to get the key out. I think it was during this brief powered period that the clock spring moved and screwed up the sensor calibration. I suspect that if I had started with the wheel at 90*, disconnected the battery, pulled the air bag fuse and popped the retaining clip then put the key in just enough to allow rotating the wheel 180*, popped the remaining clip, removed the air bag, centered the wheel AND left the key in the ignition in the off position, I would have been fine. I think with no power to the sensor, calibration would not change and I could have manually centered the sensor, put the new wheel on and been OK.
A word of caution, After releasing the first clip and rotating the wheel to get at the second clip, the first popped back in. hold the bag out while rotating the wheel and releasing the second clip to avoid doing it a couple times.

Just removed my steering wheel today to install MM cf trim pieces. No codes here either. Only thing I would say to keep an eye on it the clock spring as it moves almost on its own once the wheel is off...
