My stock clutch finally exploded. I was thinking of a GM LS7 clutch and was wondering if anybody has tried it. Thx

If memory serves there is a different bolt pattern in that clutch and the flywheel. That's why the katech had to make an adapter. Could be wrong though.

No doubt about it, you're wrong.

Stock clutch is close to the LS7 piece anyway.
I wouldn't spend that on a stock clutch.
LS9/LSA uses a different bolt pattern on the crank and due to this, on the flywheel.
Upgrade. Katech, lingenfelter, etc offer clutch upgrades with a new flywheel and a twin disc LS9 setup.

See pics below, LS7 clutch Vs what was in GXP (LS6 clutch).

I just fitted an LS7 clutch into my own car and couldn't be happier. All the Holden V8's made after 2010 have a version of LS7 clutch fitted from factory.

Yes sorry, Z06 C5. Have bit of C6 on the brain.
I have a new stock clutch on my shelf. But driveability is worlds better with the twin disc/custom flywheel combo. I'd never go back, but it wasn't cheap either.

How about the Monster stage 2. It is too pricey and better than stock

I used a LS7 clutch in my LS1 fbody, that thing would take 3k launches on slicks and bottle all day.

That would be a great bang for the buck option.
Another option for a street twin disc option is our new LT1-S it uses a modified C7 2014 Corvette clutch. It will offer better longevity than any other twin disc being it is the only one that utilizes a self adjusting pressure plate and it's lighter than the LS9.
Here are some details about it, don't hesitate if you have any questions.

Checking on part numbers since I was thinking about this recently:
92161753 = old (original G8) or new (LS7 clutch) G8 clutch kit?
Is a new pedal assembly or hardware needed to avoid abnormal wear?

Hey Steve!
Have you installed one of these in a GXP yet? Wondering how it worked out, mine is about due and I thought of you guys since I enjoyed the Stage 2 in my GTO.

Steve,
Just sent you an email about this too. Hoping to get something that has better street driving characteristics.
