Hey everyone. I am thinking about next years tire set up. I currently have MT ET Street Drag radials in the rear. They are a 295/45/17. They have 11.6 section width, 10.6 tread width, 27.7 in height, and weigh 36lbs. I was thinking about getting these again since I was cutting consistent 1.60-1.65 60's. My other option would be to go to something a little stickier in the MT ET streets. These would have a 11.1 section width, 9.5 tread width, 26.5 in height, and weigh 23lbs. Which would you guys think would be a better option for traction?
My thoughts = I like the height of the ET street drag radials and know that it helps with traction, but Im sure that the ET streets are a stickier tire. On the other hand, I was thinking of going to 3.91 gears, but if I went to the ET Streets, the shorter tire will help with acceleration so I wouldnt need diff gears. I also like the how the ET Streets are 13lbs lighter a tire than the ET Street Radials.

Better look at comparing numbers:
ET Streets
11.1 Section width
9.5 tread width
26.5 height
23 lbs weight
ET Street Drag Radial 2
11.6 section width
10.6 tread width
27.7 height
36 lbs weight
Thanks

ET Street Radial II does better with the weight of are cars. I ran the ET Street 26x11.5x17 and the best I got was a 1.60. The ET Street II 295/50R16 has taken me a lowest of 1.49. These heavy cars really need the extra construction of the Radial

There will be alot of mixed reviews on this.
I have gone both ways with tires on my G8 my last 3 sets of tires were the 28x10x17 Hoosier.
My c6 had had 18" Hoosier Drs and 17" and lastly the MT DR II...... i will be going to the hoosier for this season because i broke the car with the hard MTs.... The hoosier DRs wrinkle like a slick and are LIGHT like a slick. I would be going back to them but they isn't a tall enough one in the 17" Version.

You will have alot less chance of breaking on a Slick or Hoosier DR.

I was actually getting ready to order some tires as well. I've heard good things about the mt 2 as well as the Hoosier drag radial. I'll probably be going with the Hoosier. By any chance does anyone know the offset we need for 17" race stars? I've been looking to pick up a set. Thanks guys

They only offer a couple offsets.... has to be the 43.5mm offset.. not sure what your looking at on fronts but you can call them and discuss the offset stuff with them... if you are going to leave them on it is probably a good wheel for you... if you want to take off and put back on everytime you go to the track I personlally would not buy them again... the mag style and washers suck and the spacing is not a perfect 120mm..... they say it doesnt matter but have them try to change your wheels out 10 times at the track and then have them tell you that..... :)

Yea that with having to switch to the longer studs all around made it not worth it in the end.
