Okay, it might only be coincidence, but we don't have the medium-drone noise we did earlier in the month.

What we did? Filled the tank with premium. We normally run regular all the time, except for track days. There was a very noticeable difference on this tank of gas, however.

I suggest you try it, and let me know if it actually gave you some results as well.

Less timing would make the noise more pronounced as the engine is laboring more with less timing.

You want no drone? Run the stock mufflers, or more mufflers.

Could it have had anything to do with the term "full" ?

ie... nothing to do with the fuel quality, but rather the quantity of fuel in the tank.


Baseless theory not derived from any facts = full tank doesn't have the opportunity to act as a giant "sub box" to amplify drone resonance.

I have even sprayed urathane foam on entire bottom of car.. So thick it drags on ground... and still... Full tank, empty tank, premium, regular what ever, so far anything other than stock mufflers is going to drone to some degree. Except maybe the corsa tuned system? For me the above made no difference what so ever.

I dont think it fixed the drone, it may have changed the pitch.

*shrug* Unless we have so much MUD caked underneath that it blocked all the sound, something has definitely changed. It's crazy.

My Borla axle backs drone here and there. It's the loudest around 1800 RPM's and when I give it a little more throttle but not enough to make the trans downshift. I have AFM disabled with my Superchips tuner, so I have no idea what it's like when that kicks in.

Just manual shift all the time and it never drones, put it in drive and let er drone til the pigs come home.
