View Full Version : Debadging?

I know there are a lot of mixed feelings on debadging our cars, especially if the intent is to rebadge it as a Holden.

We decided to take off the pontiac letters about a week after we got the car, so we had "GT, G8". Yesterday when I took the car in to get the rims put on, I noticed that my husband had taken off the GT and G8 badges as well! So now, there's just a big pontiac logo on the back. He had told me he wanted to do that, and I had asked him not to for the simple fact that it looks ricey, empty, and ugly. But of course, he did it anyways.

The reasoning? "If people don't know what kind of car this is and insist on calling it a G6 all the time, I don't WANT them to know what kind of car it is. Only real car enthusiasts will figure it out."

I left G8 and GT for the same reason. I'm probably going to add a "supercharged" badge where the Pontiac letters used to be.

That's a cool idea Tom. I wonder how the "Supercharged" badge from the Cadilacs would look?

i went with these:

There are some Holden ones listed but they all require overseas ship. These are cheap so if I don't like them I just won't put it on.

Very cool. It will be a few years until we get a SC put on, but I wanted to do the same sort of thing.

I pulled all of mine off except of course for the arrowheads. I especially like it because alot of people have no idea what the car is while going down the road, and at night they have no clue what so ever

I like the fact that a lot of different things are being done. Your husband should keep his hands off the car without your approval. (Okay, my wife made me say that). I'm peeling the Pontiac and overlaying the GT, G8 and Arrowheads with the black Grafxwerks overlays. As soon as it get's above freezing. :)

Hi MNS,

In keeping with my normal obnoxious nature, I will state again: It's my car, etc. Around here in "hundred dollar millionaire" territory, (everybody has a fancy house, a Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Infinity, etc.) but couldn't come up with $100 in cash if they had to, about 20% of the cars on the road are Pontiacs ( fo' us po' folks).

So, right off of the window sticker from my latest G8 GT: PARTS CONTENT INFO-

US/Canadian Parts - 13%. Likely the tranny.
Mexico - 15%. Likely the motor.
Australia - 52%.

If you're wondering what happened to the other 20%, read the sticker. Maybe Pontiac badges???

THE G8 IS NOT A Pontiac, it's a HOLDEN!

Therefore, I will again do a complete Holden re-badge. Not 'cause I dislike Pontiac, but to mess with the other drivers around here that take on their personna from the car they drive, & can't pay for. Nuff' said. :p

I agree but like my friend put it:

If you had a Acura NSX would you rebadge it with Honda emblems? my answer was NO way in hell! Just dont put a "POWERED BY HOLDEN" sticker on the front windshield :) but in all honesty I like the Holden badges... I may do the center caps but that would be it... In all reality I dont drive a Holden or a Pontiac I drive a Chevy....

1 - I don't have an Acura NSX, nor would I ever. If I did, I would rebadge it as a Hudson Hornet if I wanted to. This is America dude.

2 - "POWERED BY HOLDEN" Where can I get one of those? C'mon, where?

3 - My condolences on the Chevy, but I used to have a nice 1953 Bel Air hardtop, so no harm, no foul. :p

4 - Tell your friend to go ***** it up his *** and go make funny noises in his ricer. :)

Bad example. Rebadging an NSX to Honda would only be restoring it to it's original name sake. They're only Acuras here in the states. Everywhere else in the world they are Hondas

Eh, to each his/her own. Me personally, no nakedness for me and I don't mind the Holden badges as it is different and being that the car is mainly built in Aus, but I don't care for the SS badges.

I dont think the Holden badges would be bad at all, if someone could just find something to replace the front emblem.

What are the chances of getting my hands on the "G8" & "GT" that some of you have taken off? I am wanting to try something out but don't want to take the chance of it not working out well and then not having anything at all on my rear. :nud: If my little project works out, I'll send you my old ones if you have a need for the letters.

I'm doing the Holden rebadge today. My G8 and GT badges are panted gloss black though.
