I got a great deal on a set of custom made Borla axle back mufflers and a Spectre CAI from another G8 owner. The mufflers have the stock tips welded on them and the CAI has a 9" K&N that's located down below the drivers headlight. The mufflers have a nice deep tone to them, and my car definitely has a lot more power now. Here's some pics and videos for all to see.

Borla on the right, stock on the left. What a difference in size!

Here's a video at idle and with some revs. It's pretty quiet at idle until I rev it up. (The noise you hear at idle is the wind blowing)

Another while driving with a WOT run with some 2nd gear scratch.

That sounds good! I think that helped me make up my mind on tips too for my new muffs. I just cant find a boxy oval that I like, so I might as well stick with what I got.

That is probably the best intake i have seen for this car yet. That combined with the lower panel mod=greatness.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I really love the sound they both make! The only drawback to the CAI is that I can't get the engine cover on, it's right next to the power steering reservoir. I guess I'll just have to get some of those sweet looking RotoFab covers, and maybe a radiator cover too. I haven't done the LP mod yet, but if a do I'll put some screen over the opening to keep any debris out.

Sounds good, I just left the engine cover off.

I cant believe that the stock mufflers are already rusting!...Freaken winter.

This is what a packaged spectre kit looks like if you were to order one.

The mufflers sound good Don. And the CAI install looks fairly straightforward. I have a Spectre kit I'll be installing shortly. Followed by a tune in the spring. If you have any words of wisdom, let me hear it...

My Spectre looks like that. That one is built with off-the-shelf Spectre parts. Works just as well (as it's all 4" ID) and since you build it yourself, it's cheaper.

Still have to worry about how to anchor it properly though.

Cool, I worked with Dave on the polished one that I mocked up. They both work well and I'm glad you figured out what was needed with off the shelf parts. See, everybody is happy.

Jim the Spectre CAI and is easy to install, it just takes a little fiddling to get all the parts lined up properly. Since there is no way to mount the filter end to support it, I used a 2" square by 6" long piece of foam and wedged it between the frame and the filter. That stops it from moving around when the car is in motion.

Also I have the Superchips hand held tuner and it's easy to use with great results. You might get a little more power from a mail order tune but this tuner is more convenient to use. If you want to get together sometime I'll let you drive my car and you can see for yourself.

What did the CAI cost and where did you get it?

I bought the CAI from another member for $60 with the K&N filter, and he gave me the Borla axle backs for $240. Great deal huh?
