My seat trim broke again this is the 2nd time. I initially purchased a new piece and had the dealer install it. For a week or so it was back to normal when I looked down the other day and so it had broken off again nearly lost it. Is there a recall for the driver seat trim??? LOL why would they make such cheap plastic parts for where you sit???...I love the car but pontiac sure screwed this design up.....anyone else having the same problem?...maybe there's a stronger after market piece I can purchase lol

Seems anyone that is tall and/or large has that problem. I am both. I used a long zip tie to secure the broken piece. Some use a small bungie cord

What piece? I'm a tall fat ass and haven't had anything break. My car has nearly 53,000 on it.

The piece you have has already been re-designed and strengthened above and beyond the equivalent piece on a Holden.

I have broken 5 or 6, got the call yesterday that my latest is in. The problem is they are trying to support the side bolster on those little plastic pegs. I will be interested to see what version is coming off and going on mine. I shall take a look now that I have been again well educated by our wonderful CP.
Thanx!

So, has anyone devised a do it yourself fix for this, other than a bungee cord??

If you get a new one, sand the plastic up real well to create a "key" for the epoxy to stick to and build up the area with a product like this:Amazing GOOP® Automotive Epoxy Paste 4 oz Kit (http://www.amazon.com/Amazing-GOOP%C2%AE-Automotive-Epoxy-Paste/dp/B004IPKI4Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1383930403&sr=8-3&keywords=superweld) I love this epoxy because it has aluminum in it and is VERY strong once cured. You basically want to gusset the factory mount to strengthen it.

I'm amazed that mine isn't broken.

On the other board, one user had the panel changed under warranty several times, but this recent time GM deemed the seat cushion defective and replaced it under warranty. The part number is 92250795. Don't know if it will last, but I ordered one to give it a try. The new side seat panel I just got is still "Rev-F"

I poked an up and down hole in the broken tab piece on the trim, then ran a long ziptie through the hole, then through the hole in the seat, three year's ago and it hasn't broken again.

This site (below) is usually well up to date with part number updates.
The number is still good, so I'd say it's the latest available.

How do you take the SOB off? More particularly, the circular back rest adjustment knob.

"How do you take the SOB off? More particularly, the circular back rest adjustment knob."
If there is no set screw, which I doubt there is, it should either pull straight out or there is a remote possibility that it threads on, but I doubt it. I'm at work or I would walk out in my garage and check it out. I have not taken mine off, but, on other cars they just push in and snap into place, then pull off with a solid tug.

I used a 2 small screwdrivers. Just applied "a little" pressure to both sides -- and it slide right out.

It shouldn't matter where you buy it from.
92207874 Left Front Seat. Side Panel.
Send a message to Greg at Pace Performance and ask him nicely if he'll check the item by eyeball once you order it, and before he ships it out.

Greg at PacePerformance can order you a kit to fix this issue for 25 bucks..better than spending the 100 bucks for the side piece.

I purchased the kit and modified it with some longer screws and changed where I put the screws ..worked out fine.

Both front seats broke on mine (only 40K miles). I am usually not a "rig it" kind of guy but here is what i did on both and I have never had another issue.

Drill a hole through the thick plastic tab that breaks and put a heavy zip-tie through the hole. Then route the tie through the hole on the seat frame. Make sure you use a long Zip-tie so you can pull it from the side or under seat once routed and connected. This allows you to put the zip-tie tight enough so the trim in next to the seat.

What you get is some flex (because the trim is not solid against the seat frame) but it is close enough as to not look broken. Hope that makes sense. Seems better than replacing them over and over.

So far, zero issues with this method and they have been repaired this way well over a year.

Piece to drill through (one side to the other):

I did that maybe 2 years ago but I used 2 zip ties still going strong. Mine was the passenger seat. MY Gt is not broken yet but it hangs out a bit on the passenger seat will end up doing the same thing ,even thought I bought the plastic trim will wait till it no longer holds.

Ok ..well mine shit the bed again with the modification kit.

I will try the zip ties but I dont think there is any more meat for me to drill through the tabs ..etc.

well--- I bought my GT w/32k mi on it in Sept 2017. Side trim was broken so seller ordered and sent me new one. It lasted 1 week !!! guess I'm in a very long line of breakeees. Alas I'm 6'1" and weigh 240. So, a 40 lb weight loss is the answer? I'm 75 yrs. and a slow learner .

Try the dealership. You may find them on ebay. I went through 3 of these.
I ended up rigging a fix with some screws and a angle bracket and never has an issue again.
