I'm starting to look at FI (ZL1 Kit) down the road. If I go with a LS9 cam (DoD delete), will I also need new valve springs and push rods? If so, recommendations welcome.

Thanks

L76 valve springs are only rated to 0.520" lift so they need to go in the trash.

Thanks CP. Must be blind tonight, I saw that thread and missed the reference.

Anytime you swap a cam in a G8, lifters, pushrods and valve springs are a given. Locks and retainers are not a bad idea depending on age and lift of new cam.

You might wanna choose a different cam if you desire any kind of performance gains from it...

Edit: Missed where you said you wanted to go forced induction.

What about the LSA cam? Are different valve springs or pushrods required? I think I can get my hands on one for basically free and my motivations are to (1) eliminate the DOD lifters and (2) not have to mess with disassembling the cylinder heads to add new springs.

Honestly, new springs take a spring tool ($50) and about an hour to replace. You can buy the GM LS9 springs through Greg Was pretty cheap. If you can't afford the extra $200, I'd wait until you can.

FWIW, I went with Tooley dual spring kit (SK001) and push rods. Cam will be Tooley stg 2 PD cam or LS9.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

Swapping to the LS9 springs doesn't require LS9 retainers and locks? What about valve seals? I do my own work but I've never dug that far into an engine.

Anyone know the answer to my original question?

you need different springs in all cases.
Valve seals are needed if you go to a dual spring.
