What about that finish in the Nationwide race yesterday! Busch tried to get him loose. That was real cool for the Hendrix organization.

02-15-2009, 02:42 PM
2 pit penalty's for Jr.?

GRRRR8
02-15-2009, 02:45 PM
He has fucked this race up for himself! 17th to 1st to 36th to 6th to lap down! 1 of the fastest cars on the track and he is making HUGE mental mistakes.

-Ray-
02-15-2009, 02:46 PM
he just caused a big wreck!

99-LS1-SS
02-15-2009, 02:49 PM
I wonder if Jr meant to do that?

99-LS1-SS
02-15-2009, 02:50 PM
I'm not a Jr fan but I wonder if he knew he was that close. He barely clipped Vickers.

99-LS1-SS
02-15-2009, 02:50 PM
Sucks for Busch.

-Ray-
02-15-2009, 02:51 PM
I would hate to think that. At those speeds? This isn't Bristol.

GRRRR8
02-15-2009, 02:51 PM
No, Vickers through a block. In car camera shows he hit JR when he came down. JR has a right to race too, but since he is a lap down we will see how they rule on this. If he was on the lead lap it wouldnt be an issue. Way to aggressive on Vickers part, but thats why he isnt with Hendrix and not the 1st time he has had an altercation with JR. The last one took JR out and got him a win.

-Ray-
02-15-2009, 02:53 PM
He can't go below the yellow line. The block was legit!
JR. fucked up. Admit it.

GRRRR8
02-15-2009, 02:58 PM
Your right he through a block, forced him under the line, JR checked up and there was now where for him to go. They were both a lap down going for the lucky dog. I dont see the issue. If Kyle took Tony out yesterday by getting him loose nothing would have been said. But, thats restrictor plate racing.

-Ray-
02-15-2009, 03:00 PM
Jr hit vickers coming up from the line. Karen says I'm right. LOL

GRRRR8
02-15-2009, 03:01 PM
LOL! Ok you win! He still didnt get the lucky dog.

-Ray-
02-15-2009, 03:01 PM

GRRRR8
02-15-2009, 03:03 PM

02-15-2009, 03:06 PM
Lucky dog for jr?

-Ray-
02-15-2009, 03:33 PM
Sure he does. 55 did it.

GRRRR8
02-15-2009, 03:36 PM
55 needs all the help he can get! Matt is a racer that doesnt want any charity. I watched him and JR battle when they were in Busch together. I think he would like to see it go green as it would be a great way to start the season. A win is a win though.

-Ray-
02-15-2009, 03:37 PM

02-16-2009, 06:03 AM
It sucked, boring to say the least. Follow the leader and hope your pit crew can get you out ahead of the previous leader. The truck and nationwide races were really good and I injoyed watching them. They have restricted these cars so much that its just not fun to watch anymore and I'm an avid nascar fan and have been since the 60's. No more restrictor plates for a while and thats good. On to California and that should be a better race. I really like the 1 1/2 mile tracks better, no plates and turn em loose.

GRRRR8
02-16-2009, 06:11 AM
Atlanta has become 1 of my favorites for this reason.

99-LS1-SS
02-16-2009, 06:36 AM
For anyone who's never been to a race, go see a 1 1/2 mile track. TV doesn't do those cars justice. The first time I stood down by the fence when they went by the hair on the back of my neck stood up. You can't get a real perspective of just how fast they are going until you are right down there next to them. They are hauling ass!!

nathan600r
02-17-2009, 10:36 AM
IMO the 1 1/2 mile tracks are the worst, the kansas race which I used to go to every year since it opened just didn't do it for me anymore. Now the lakeside speedway race, where the nascar guys brought their dirt track late models, wow now that was excitement.

Busch will be the one to watch today. He was unstoppable in the Camper World and Nationwide race. He is really maturing into a great driver. Couldn't stand him two years ago...But I respect the hell out of his talent.

GRRRR8
02-22-2009, 06:42 AM
If Busch continues on the pace he is at, he will hold every race record ever. When Petty had 201 wins they raced more then 1 time per week. He really is incredible to win back to back last night and practice for cup also.

Necessitous numbers
3 Number of poles for Kurt Busch at Fontana, leading all active drivers. Busch swept the pole in 2006 and added another in the fall race of 2007. Busch has led a lap in eight of the 13 races he's run at Fontana.
3 Three drivers have multiple victories at Auto Club Speedway. Teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have three wins and Matt Kenseth has two.
4 Since Fontana became the second race of the season, only one owner has visited Victory Lane -- Jack Roush. Roush cars have swept the Fontana February race with Greg Biffle taking the checkered in '05, Matt Kenseth winning in '06 and '07 and Carl Edwards driving to victory last season.
5.9 Average finish for Jimmie Johnson at Fontana. In 12 races he has three wins and eight top-three finishes. His worst finish at the track is 16th and it happened twice.
9 Of the 12 winners at Fontana, nine have double-digit wins in the Cup Series. Elliott Sadler (3), Kasey Kahne (9) and Jeremy Mayfield (5) are the three who fall short.
12There have been 12 winners in 17 races at Fontana and all have one thing in common -- they have been in the Chase at least once in their career.
26.26 Average number of lead changes in the February race at Fontana. Last year's Fontana February race featured 33 lead changes -- a record for the Cup Series at the track.
225 Number of laps Tony Stewart has led at Fontana, the most for an active driver without a win at the track. In 15 races, Stewart has three top-fives and seven top-10s.

I worried about Gordon's engine. There is a puff of smoke in the apex of the turn. I thought it might be the tires until I saw it on Jr's car before his engine went.

99-LS1-SS
02-22-2009, 06:17 PM
Maybe it's the tires. Seems like a lot of them are smoking at the center of the turn.

-Ray-
02-23-2009, 03:03 AM
Yeah, it was his tires.
Congrats to #17 and crew for a great race.
See you in Sin City.

Texas Motor Speedway History
•Construction on Texas Motor Speedway began in 1995.
•The original configuration called for an unusual dual banking system that had 24 degrees of banking for stock cars and eight degrees for open-wheel cars.
•The first NASCAR race at Texas was a NASCAR Nationwide Series event on April 5, 1997.
•The first NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas was on April 6, 1997.
•In 1998, Turn 4 at Texas was reshaped to ease the transition from the turns to the front straightaway.
•A second renovation started after the 1998 race and eliminated the dual banking and gave the track its current configuration.
Track Numbers
•There have been 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Texas Motor Speedway, one per season 1997 through 2004 and two races per year since 2005.
•Four drivers have competed in all 16 Texas races: Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte and Mark Martin.
•Jeremy Mayfield won the first timed qualifying on April 4, 1998. Qualifying for the inaugural race in 1997 was canceled.
•Jeff Burton won the first NASCAR Sprint Cup race.
•11 drivers have scored poles at Texas, led by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Bobby Labonte and Ryan Newman with two each.
•13 drivers have won races, led by Carl Edwards, with three.
•12 of 16 races have been won from a top-10 starting position. Only one has been won from the pole (Kasey Kahne in 2006).
•Matt Kenseth started 31st en route to his victory at Texas in 2002, the deepest in the field that a race winner has started.
•There have been two green-white-checkered finishes: fall 2006 (339/334) and spring 2008 (339/334).
Hot Fact
Carl Edwards is the only driver with a season sweep at Texas, winning both races in 2008. Jimmie Johnson, who won there in 2007, is the only active driver who averages a top-10 finish at Texas (9.1).
