View Full Version : Feeler: Used PatG Cam for sale after Labor Day weekend

I have a used PatG cam that I pulled this past weekend for sale.
Cam: PatG spec 222/226 .597"/.605" 114+2 Comp cam. The cam has EPS intake lobes and LXL Exhaust lobes. There are a few other guys running this cam. It work great with a stock stall as a daily driver. I still got 24 mpg on the highway with this cam as well. The cam is not a DOD cam.
There is one little stripe on on of the lobes, it must have got something between the lobe and lifter at some point, however you even can't catch a finger nail on it. I am asking $250+ shipping. I will have some PAC dual springs soon as well after I replace them. Nothing wrong with them, just refreshing the valve train since I put a new cam in.
I haven't had any issues with this setup at all. I don't know how much power its making, but I did run a 12.38@114 with the cam, 1 3/4" longtubes, Magnaflow exhaust, Vararam intake, Ported TB (by me), and tune on street tires. I will obviously have to inspect the cam when I pull it out, and won't sell it if it has any damage. I will also post up pics when I pull it. The set up has approx 10,000 miles on it.

Not quite, going with something a little bigger. I have one but, it was before I switched from Mids to Long Tubes. I'll get one on my lunch break and post it up.

It's not real crazy, but people can tell it's not stock. Ask me how I know!

3bolt? Dod cam right?

3 bolt, non DOD cam. Sorry, I had just added that it was a non DOD cam on the first post.

What would I need to run for lifters?

I am running LS7 lifters like a lot of people. There are better, more expensive options out there. I'm also running 7.425" push rods. I believe factory is 7.400".

Would this work in an LS3?

As far as I know. I don't know off hand if the LS3 comes from the factory with a 1 or 3 bolt cam though.

GREAT street and track cam. Stock stall is awesome with it. This is the same cam I'm running as well. GLWS.

Just to update, new cam is at the house and will be installed on Labor Day weekend as scheduled. So pending inspection this one will be available then.

My car is a daily driver, will this affect it? I don't want to be pushing at red lights or have to think about getting a stall. I've been looking for a NON-DOD cam for a while, I just don't know much about them or specs or anything. I'm guessing I would need the whole package of other parts as well (bolts, lifters, etc etc)

This cam works great with the factory stall. It doesn't really push any more than the stock cam, from what I remember. Yes you would need a DOD Delete package like this: http://www.texas-speed.com/p-717-dod-afm-delete-kit.aspx
I replaced all the lifters, but you really only have to replace the DOD ones. Also, PatG recommended 7.425" push rods with the cam, so you'd probably need those as well.

Stupid question, but where can I buy push rods from? The install/tune alone is going to cost me close to $1,500 so def would like to keep costs down. Your cam plus the kit you sent me the link to is already in the $700's.
Thanks!

Also, I'd like first dibs on this when it becomes available because I'm 100% serious about buying. So $300 includes the cam and springs? I would just need to buy that DOD delete package, some push rods, and I'm good to go?
Thanks again and sorry for all the stupid questions. I know nothing about cam's. Any estimate on HP increase? 20? 50? 1,000? LOL

No worries. It's not a super aggressive cam, but with supporting mods ie: Headers, cold air intake, should put you in the range of 375-400rwhp depending on the dyno. I can tell you it will be enough to run mid 12s though. You might want to replace the guides, locks and seals, all of which normally come in a spring kit. I'm sure Greg@Pace could help you out there too.
Here's an old thread that might shed more light on the DOD delete process: http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=462

So this cam is close to what a livernoise stage 1.5? Just eyeballing here I've read so much on lifts that my eyes hurt

Probably, I think the Livernois has a bigger split in duration. But, I think performance wise its probably in the same range.

do you know if there would be piston to valve clearance issues with heads milled .030

With that cam you shouldn't have problems with ptv clearance
